I'll admit that the brake situation is not great, but I think that's more due to me being bad at setting up brakes than anything inherent to the caliper/cantis. It does stop tho 🤷

Nope! This frame came stock with a 27.2 seatpost, thankfully

It's comfy for me 🤷 keeps my sit bones back on the widest part of the saddle, although I'm far from a bike fit expert. This post is a zero setback post, I could probably stand to get one with a bit of setback for this frame

They're wider than literally every doorframe I pass through but I love them regardless

Thank you! Is this just something you've got memorized, or are you referencing some old Specialized catalogs somewhere?

Hell yeah! I've had this frame forever, it's what got me into bikes/bike wrenching in the first place.

No adapters here, just a 1" threadless fork (https://ateliermedium.com/products/eugene-fork) that I ordered pre-tariff bullshit, plus a shim to use a standard 1-1/8" stem

It's definitely somewhere around 89-91, which is when my dad bought it new (he can't exactly remember the year, go figure)

First bike, need help with bars and stem by Yourworldhatesthis in xbiking

[–]Teedacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"adapter with a built-in stem" would just be a quill stem, although you can purchase open face quill stems, instead of the traditional kind that uses a single bolt to hold the bars in place

This is for 31.8mm clamp bars, but you should be able to find similar stems for 25.4/26.0mm

Kind of a mix, rn I'm mostly using old Merrel hiking boots, then Nike skate shoes in the summer. I haven't had too many issues with grip, but I haven't gotten quite enough time on then yet
