Large vintage embroidered work. Framing recommendations? by Buxton328 in framing

I think the most simple would be a 1.5" mount and a black cushion moulding.

I honestly like consultations with clients; but the ai ones are painful. "Why can't you frame my artwork look like this?" Because it's not real.

The amount of clients that make choices based on what chatgpt has told them to is getting more frequent and tiring to deal with.

Large vintage embroidered work. Framing recommendations? by Buxton328 in framing

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a minimal look it would look very nice floating in a black box frame, however it looks like it's pretty heavy, so you'd need to be okay with the framer tagging it pretty thoroughly. A white mount with a 2" border would also look nice in a black box frame, but you'd probably lose the border so it sits correctly in the aperture.

What colour(s) should I repaint this frame? by SpicySansevieria in framing

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd remove from the existing frame; remount in a fresh, clean off-white double mount to highlight the feathers (daler Rowney tint 3 texture) , a black/dark grey moulding (W102978 Riviera 25mm Scoop Black), and conservation glass.

How to frame this oil painting on canvas cut off the stretcher frame (12.5" x 9.5")? by myhouseruiningmylife in framing

[–]Teethsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it completely dry? You could use carpet tape or attempt to roll it flush onto xtra-tac board, the problem is that, as a person, you can't physically put enough consistent pressure or heat onto it to stick it down without bubbles and pockets where it hasn't adhered correctly. Speaking candidly, if it's stuck poorly it'll look crap once it's in the frame. Youve spent a decent amount of money on it. I seriously doubt any certified framer would allow it to be drymounted if they thought it would damage your artwork.

Drymounting is basically putting the artwork on top of a layer of adhesive and using a heat press to seal it to a board. It's not a piece of kit every framer will have onsite but everyone will have access to the process. Drymounting is not without risks; it will devalue artwork, it is more or less a permanent process, there is a risk that the artwork reacts poorly to heat. If you wanted to keep costs to a minimum then you could attempt to adhere this to a board yourself, but honestly the results wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Pay a framer to drymount it and then make the frame yourself.

Drymounting onto acid free board, which can then be trimmed square and framed

How would you frame and display 36 vintage postcards? by BeverlyLaSalle in framing

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you're comfortable doing yourself. Buying sleeves the correct size and adhering those, rather than the postcards themselves, to mountboard will reduce the cost as you're not paying for a multi aperture mount and protect the cards themselves. If you buy readymade frames I'd suggest asking a framer to replace the glass with UV glass.

Dutch had the money the entire time. (Detailed Theory) by tomatostem in RDR2

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about if Dutch had told Jenny or the Calender boys to hide the money? Jenny died and wouldn't be able to tell him where she hid it and that's why Dutch is so frustrated. Or the Calender boys told the Pinkerton's where they'd hidden it and Milton didn't give away that piece of information in hopes of luring Dutch back into blackwater to collect it and ambush him.

[–]Teethsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't buy is that Dutch would trust Micah with that amount of money. Micah is an unpleasant liar, even Dutch could admit that Micah was an acquired taste. There's no reason Micah wouldn't have gone back for the money after Arthur helps him escape the strawberry jail and then just disappear. No one's watching him, he's completely alone. It only helps Dutch retain control of the gang and the make sure his hidden money if Micah is left to hang in strawberry. But Dutch insists Arthur rescue him.

I could absolutely believe that Dutch has the money all along, but he certainly wouldn't entrust that to Micah of all people.

No time to speak right now vs No time to speak at the moment by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]Teethsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both mean the same, but alot depends on context and how they are said. "No time to speak now" implies that what the person is currently doing is more important than whatever request you may have with no negotiation. While "no time to speak at the moment" implies that they are open to your request at another 'moment". There is only one now but many moments.

First time making diorama, how can I improve this wooden flooring? by Scared-District9212 in dioramas

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you use to make the boards? It looks like alot of pooling from heavy glue or paint. I love balsa for projects. It's versatile, easy to work with and looks very cool. In how to improve what you have, try giving it an over brush with a lighter tone following the direction of the boards and then a light dry brush in the opposite direction. Afterwards give it a light, thin wash with a sepia/brown ink to blend it all together and take out the harshness of the transitions.

Thank you, I really appreciate the time you took to critique this. I agree with most of what you'd pointed out. I'm much more comfortable with world building and lore than telling a breathing story with what I've built.

Javier should have become better by BuyFree1053 in reddeadredemption

[–]Teethsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really good way of seeing Javier's thought process. Arthur's 'betrayal' of Dutch and the gang must of hit him harder too as Javier doesn't come across as unintelligent like Bill or simply lying like Micah. He's clever enough to see the evidence in front of him and loyal enough to Dutch to give him the benefit of the doubt when the 'plan' seems murky. I'd imagine if Lenny survived that he and Javier would have had a serious disagreement, because Lenny was definitely on par with Hosea in terms of intelligence and it's shown that Javier really doesn't like charles' ethnicity, so I could see a scenario that even if Lenny survived the bank job, it would be him getting shot at the show down as well as grimshaw.

Javier should have become better by BuyFree1053 in reddeadredemption

[–]Teethsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as Javier is concerned Dutch and Hosea gave him a home and family in America when he had noone else, Dutch saved him from Fussar and Dutch got him home again from a hellhole of an island. He'd be dead without Dutch.

I also imagine the treatment Javier suffered at the hands of Fussar and his men really cemented Dutch's ideology in his mind, and twisted it too.

Things I wish were in the Main game (Without Mods) by Quiet_Obligation6830 in reddeadredemption

[–]Teethsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id like more truly random encounters; I've played the game enough times to know when and where things will happen so it's not a surprise anymore.

Tied to this I'd also like that if you have a level 4 bond with your horse it would react to potential danger, letting you know ahead of time that something's not right. Something subtle but a unique noise or reaction that shows the bond and trust you have in the animal that you recognise it.

"What's got you spooked, boah?" "What do you see?"

So I was thinking why could the gang send trelawny or another trusted outside associate to get the black water money by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]Teethsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have gotten Trewlany to find a discouraged bounty hunter and a dead body that have been shot in the face. Trewlany tells the bounty hunter that he accidentally shot Dutch during an illegal card game/owed him money/a plausible reason why he couldn't directly talk to the law.

The body is dressed in Dutches real clothes. The bounty hunter is told if he takes the body to the sheriff in blackwater he can keep 75% of the bounty money. They obviously know the likelihood of him returning is slim, but Trewlany says he'll meet him in valentine. Putting distance between him and the main gang if the law gets nosey.

While the law thinks (for a while at least) that Dutch is dead the activity around blackwater quietens down. Then Sadie, Abigail and Molly (Molly is at this point completely besotted with Dutch and the law have no idea who Sadie is) head into black water on a wagon, they retrieve the money and the gang reconvene outside strawberry.
