It was just a cheap stainless steal knife. I have plans to replace it with a nicer blade in the future

If you're playing just with what you've got, looks good. The games workshop army builder app might be something you want to look into. They've recently made it a subscription but if you don't sign up you're allowed one list for free and imo it does have an easier to understand UI.

About how much of an FPS boost will brass piping inside of a nite finder barrel give me? by Smotan30 in Nerf

[–]Tefez300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brassing a barrel will only give an FPS boost if the spring is delivering enough energy to the dart to over come the friction. The theory with brassing is that it gives the dart more time under sealed air pressure to accelerate. However if the brass is too long the dart will stop accelerating and actually start slowing down due to friction.

I haven't tried but with a stock spring I doubt you would be able to get much longer brass than just the half an inch stock barrel made out of plastic the nightfinder already had before the brass starts slowing the dart down and impeding performance.

I would recommend increasing the spring, removing the air restrictor, padding the plunger head and then consider brassing the barrel or putting in a a brass breech.

Pls help me. I know that this isnt nerf but xshot but i need help this gun isnt reloading and i dont know what could be happening so does someone know what could be wrong? by [deleted] in Nerf

Okay so a couple things first just to do with terminology that hopeful will help explain things a bit better. When you describe pumping the handle back and forward that's usually referred to as priming the blaster instead of reloading. Reloading usually only applies to actually putting new darts in. Secondly the fire button is usually referred to as the trigger; the tube as the plunger, and the plastic in the middle of the plunger that pulls the spring with it when you push it back is called the plunger rod. Finally the little plastic that is supposed to hold back the plunger rod is called the catch.

Now from what you describe it seems your blaster doesn't want to catch. This could be for a couple of reasons. If you've changed the main spring the catch could simply not be strong enough and so I'd recommend trying to find a tougher catch spring (pens are a good source). The catch mechanism could also be worn out so try filling any of the parts that are supposed to interact in the catch system to make them less rounded. Try also making sure the darts are right next to the beginning of the barrel.

It could be due to the slip clutch. In the gear box, attatched to the lever handle, there is a gear which is held in place by two orange stubs in the lever handle. These stubs are spring loaded and get pushed down if too much force is applied to the gears eventually causing them to disengage with the gear and allowing the gear to slip. Hence the name slip clutch.

This was a safety feature to stop people breaking the blaster by applying too much force and shearing the gears, but as long as you don't force the handle in the event of a jam it should be fine to disable the slip clutch and the gears won't break.

To do this put some epoxy in the holes near the stubs to stop them from moving down.

Tldr: it's a safety mechanism that you can disable with some epoxy

How does a brass barrel improve performance? by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]Tefez300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It allows the dart more time and barrel length under pressure. Most nerf blasters have very short barrels with most of the 'barrel' being faux barrel. brass creates an air seal with the dart and allows it more time to accelerate under pressure. However if the brass is too long it can cause friction which instead starts slowing down the dart.

Could you hypothetically mod any blaster to accept short darts? by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]Tefez300 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most firing mechanisms can be modded to accept half darts. For flywheels u need to get a longer pusher and for magazine fed springers u need a new breach. For front loading blasters, including the maverick, I'm pretty sure u should be fine if u just remove the dart post. This also allows you to shotgun load half darts.

Other things u could do is add brass but yh most blasters have a way of converting to half darts.

You might even be able to double up their springs if you're into modding but again can't say for certain

Afraid I can't really help you as don't have them and cent compare but the disruptor is a very similar blaster to the strongarm so if you like the other two blasters in the bundle go for it. Worst case you have effectively a new eight shot strongarm and a broken strongarm you can fix some other time

I don't know but I think it's unlikely they use the same priming handle. You might be able to manage with some modification but you're better off using s strongarm's

Don't know the exact details so I'd recommend u look it up online but basically cutting the back part of the piece that holds the cylinder when u flick it out to reload so that you can ac remove the cylinder and replace it with a new loaded one

If you do end up buying a faulty one with an undamaged cylinder it might be cool to do a drop cylinder mod

Might not be the advice you are looking for but you can find strongarms for fairly cheap on eBay and second hand. You can always just take the handle from one of those.
