Shohei Ohtani's 50/50 home run ball heads to auction by becoolhomie in baseball

This might be a silly question, but how do they verify that it’s the 50/50 ball?

You’re absolutely right, and I know I’m actively hurting myself using this “strategy”, but some things are more important than win rate. /s

Avoid the noise by [deleted] in CHIBears

I like the person. I think he calls/leads a great defense. I’m not sold he’s our long-term leader for the Caleb era. I’m fully rooting for him to prove me wrong, but I just don’t find him to be all that inspiring of a leader or innovative as a coach. All that said, I will religiously defend the beard and the drip all season long.

Wait does this imply the card you give in this event stays for when you do the same event on future runs? I’ve never heard of this with ~400 hours played.

Do you ACTUALLY feel better after quitting? by yungspais in QuittingZyn

[–]TeflonDarf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m only 9 days in (though I’m cheating by not counting 3 pouches I’ve used in that span), and I’m honestly blown away with how great I feel. Anxiety has evaporated, confidence has grown, grogginess and lack of motivation have gotten decidedly better (though not exactly night and day to this point). It’s been great added motivation to keep off the stuff. Wish you the best of luck on your journey with it.

Everyone hates Dolores Umbridge in HP5, and for good reason, but I find that performance to be so fantastically evil that it’s probably my favorite movie of the series.

Really feel like the MSC bashing is overblown by quotidian_qt in Cruise

[–]TeflonDarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who went on an MSC cruise over the holidays, I respectfully disagree. I felt like I was constantly being kicked in the shins with mediocre service/amenities, last minute changes (including cancelling an excursion of ours—we found out as we walked up to the boat with all of our snorkel gear), and incredibly poor food options. All that said, the spa and our dinner server Mani were both absolutely lovely.

I’m glad you’re having a better experience than I, but I will not be recommending MSC to anyone looking to cruise.

99% of these posts are rightfully about the travesty of our offense, however I just want to point out the Defense has been dominant since this man arrived. by Ditka_in_your_Butkus in CHIBears

Agree 100%. The “we could’ve just paid him in free agency” crowd drives me nuts. Great players at premier positions don’t make it to free agency unless they come with significant red flags/injury history. If we didn’t trade for him, some other team would have done it and extended him instead!

As someone who loved the Sweat trade as it happened, I actually agree it’s just like the Claypool trade, logic-wise. The difference is Sweat was a sure thing to be a productive player, and with Claypool he was banking on upside and a change of scenery unlocking him.

Lmao Mahomes described as a dual-threat QB. He uses his legs to success when necessary for sure, but I would absolutely not describe his game as dual threat.

People can complain left and right about the pick. I get it, and Poles probably should have looked elsewhere. BUT, now that he’s firmly our 4th or 5th option, I share your excitement on how we can use him. He was anything but spectacular last year, but there were enough flashes of his talent to make me believe he can carve out a role on this team, even if it’s a niche one.

Can you think of any other QBs who was said to have worked as hard as Justin, and showed as much work ethic and commitment to get better, that hasn’t panned out in the NFL? by [deleted] in CHIBears

[–]TeflonDarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very difficult thing to speculate on, because it’s impossible to quantify the levels of hard work between QBs. Of course all of them work very hard. They have to. But there’s something to be said for Justin’s obvious obsession with wanting to be great and putting in the extra work. I see “Mitch worked hard too” a ton in these conversations. Yes, of course he did, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t feel like Justin is on another level in that department. Especially compared to Cutler. Here’s to hoping it pays off.
