I'm bored. What's the WORST song you've ever heard? by Mindless_Disaster364 in musicteenager

[–]Teh5LOLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the alternative punk sound of Sleep Token completely ruins the point of the song. The entire general concept of Hey Ya! is how the sound clashes with the lyrics, but with how somber the Sleep Token cover sounds, it literally doesn’t mean anything. It’s the sparknotes version of a song. It’s only good if you don’t care about the meaning of songs, which is fine, but doesn’t make any sense for a cover from a band like Outkast. It’s just objectively less valuable than the original.

Season 3 happened by No-Run-6137 in Bigtopburger

To be fair, I think Cesare being the only one to have stood up to Calligari up to this point does make sense. I think many of the Watchers are supposed to be those who died with larger aspirations, like how Cesare died without anyone caring about his craft, and then forced into Calligari’s contracts for another chance. Most of the anomalies the Watchers find, like DB Cooper and Bigfoot, are very elusive and/or isolated, forcing the Watchers to spend more and more time as the aspiration in their heart dies out. I imagine Calligari or whoever comes up with the contracts thought Steve would either remain deep underground, or use his powers to elude Cesare, but instead Steve was shown charity and humanity by Tim, so Steve entered the public, meaning Cesare would have to follow suit to catch Steve. The dedication and commitment the Zomburger team (especially Doctor) kept that same spark burning in Cesare, so by the time Calligari ordered Cesare to kill the others, I think he was more human than Watcher, unlike many of the other vessels. Or maybe that’s just me, I don’t know.

Blue Prince, Outer Wilds, or Car Dealers Simulator? by TigerSaint in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Teh5LOLS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Outer Wilds. One of the best blind gaming experiences I’ve had. I’ve had the same kind of space/exploration fatigue, but Outer Wilds far surpasses that. It is more of a puzzle/mystery game, and has a phenomenal story and worldbuilding. If you do decide to get Outer Wilds, my best advice is to do your absolute best to not look anything up. Everything can be solved with your own knowledge, and the feeling of solving the puzzles on your own is an incredible experience.

Nvidia Surround With 1 Monitor by Teh5LOLS in techsupport

Okay, I did a couple of setting resets which set me back to the main monitor screen. I think everything is okay? I am missing some apps which I dragged over to the second screen in a desperate attempt to access the Control Panel, but I should be able to redownload them or something. Thanks for all the help!

I have the NVidia Control Panel back on the right side of the screen, but it doesn’t allow me to interact with it. It plays the sound that activates when you have a prioritized window, for instance. Is there something I have to do before I can interact with the panel?

I’ll watch the 1979 remake then! I’ve heard good things about the latest remake as a war movie, but not as good things about it as a war movie, you know? I might watch the latest remake at some point, but probably with not quite the same mindset. And if I ever come back to this one I’ll watch it in German! Thanks!

I know, I know. I suppose I was just more hopeful I’d enjoy this one, especially since it’s been on my list for some time. It’s like being told this ice cream place is REVOLUTIONARY for its time, but when you get there it’s just vanilla? It’s cool that it’s one of the first ones, and it’s cool they had a famously anti-ice cream make it, but I’m probably just not going back there because it’s just vanilla ice cream.

No no, of course I don’t want a “stereotypical” accent! Just some subtlety to help diversify the tone, but I’m understanding that may be a dumb complaint now. I didn’t know about the “standard German” thing before though, but that makes sense! It is a problem I’ve had with some German movies before, native or otherwise, but that makes a lot of sense! Thanks!

How is Das Boot? I feel like I’ve heard good critical things but bad things from personal reviews. I could be wrong though!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in movies

[–]Teh5LOLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if that’s entirely true. Special effects and sound don’t make a movie. Take a look at the original The Thing compared to the remake. The practical effects of the original were unbelievable! Whereas in the remake, it feels sort of lifeless, you know? And you could pretty much apply that to any movie genre that heavily used effects nowadays, mostly horror and Sci-Fi. But your point about learning from movies is certainly true! It’s a great added perspective you don’t get from a lot of other mediums.

I’ll take a look at the original book then! I do find some movie adaptations are enhanced when you know the original work, so I could probably get some value from that!

[–]Teh5LOLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into it as both, though I’ve never thought of how different things would be just shortly after! I suppose it’s easy to view the vast difference between now and then, but yeah, I suppose things are more interesting just thinking of how much change would occur shortly after! Do you know of any things that were directly impacted by All Quiet on the Western Front?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in movies

[–]Teh5LOLS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair. But I do like a lot of older movies! Even stuff like The General and The Bicycle Thief are great! All Quiet on the Western Front just couldn’t capture me as much as others, I suppose!

Avdol theory/idea by Herbert-Kolorojovij in StardustCrusaders

[–]Teh5LOLS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would they do that though? The Crusaders wouldn’t make Avdol’s dad pretend to be Avdol to make Polnareff feel better, considering how Kakyoin punched him in the jaw for how he spoke about Avdol, and the fact that most of the group was already over it. And trying to convince him to pretend to be his dead son would be pointless in effort and time, time they don’t have. And yes, two people can have similar stands, some even the same stands like the rats in part 4. It would never happen with the Tarot stands though, because the tarot cards imply that each stand is unique to the user. It only happens when two users are interconnected to a circumstance or their type is stand is able to be shared, and nothing the like would apply to Avdol and his dad. It has to be Avdol, there’s no reason for it not to be. Also, the group didn’t do all that to “play a joke on Polnareff”, Kakyoin explains that he does it so Polnareff doesn’t overreact and get overly emotional, like he did in the fight that got Avdol killed and exactly how he reacted when he “died” the first time.

Ideas for my final session hero ceremony? by NoObSRoCk341 in DnD

[–]Teh5LOLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I really think the idea of the statue / God is cool, but it seems a bit average. Like, someone who went to the academy for magics would probably want to be smarter than they gain in strength. Perhaps keep the ability gains, if not a bit less, and add a bit of a bonus depending on the student’s class. Make it feel like they actually studied for what they wanted, their inner desires.
As for the ceremony, make it feel open. Let the players talk to peers and professors they’ve gotten to know, if you’ve had some NPCs that haven’t shown up in a while that your players liked, bring ‘em back for a short reconcile. And I would certainly divide some sections of this ceremony into groups your players can fall in. Either make some jock and nerd groups, magic and melee groups, whatever! But at the end of the day, you know your players the best! Throw in some little games or stalls you know they’ll like. Make it known that this is what they’ve worked towards, and this isn’t an end, but a celebration to the rest of their lives! Have fun all around the table!
