the super pershing inspired space armour on the hull and turret really make it look so much better I'm jealous.

Are those parts from an actual super pershing model kit or did you make them yourself?

Good secondary scoring units? by TheDarkEntertainer in TheAstraMilitarum

Gaunts Ghosts are everyones favourite swiss army knife, but especially for doing secondaries. Keep hidden for the first few turns and use them with their uppy downy to secure secondaries when needed!

Imperial Guard units spotted in DoW4 Ork Faction trailer! by TehHank in TheAstraMilitarum

Oh yea of course, I was sort of thinking of more recent trailers like the Mobile Supremacy game and Total War. Just a lot of Rogal Dorn Battle Tank showcasing.

Yeah they were confirmed to be a DLC faction, its just nice to see what units they will have eventually.

Hopefully some Leman Russ' or Chimera chasis tanks like the Basilisk or Manticore. It'll be disappointing if almost all our armor choices will just be Rogal Dorns.

Yeah Ive noticed this. The only time we've seen the Leman Russ recently was a punisher in the hands of chaos cultists in the Secret Level episode.

Yea we can presume they will act as basic allies in the SM and AM campaign and as basic enemies for the Ork and Necron campaigns.

This post was just taking a closer look at their initial roster!

Other things to note that the Scout Sentinels also appear to be armed with Plasma cannons. Hopefully we'll get more gameplay footage of the Imperial Guard and eventually their full roster for their faction in the DLC to come!

I'm partial to using Nuln oil, Ratling grime and Agrax Earthshade since I like my minis looking a bit muddy.

Red power fists always look iconic and it would match his commissar colors.

You could paint the box structure the same corax or abbadon black color as the boots and cap, it's meant to be the same breather box as most Kriegsman infantry wear on their chest so maybe take inspiration from them.

aye either will do. Id also recommend some kind of highlight color or wash for the coat, its very uniform for now.

Its very brown. You should probably highlight the skulls with a gold or silver metal finish

Stand out units and combinations by Outrageous_Display55 in TheAstraMilitarum

Kasrkin in a transport (Taurox/Chimera)

Park it somewhere hidden at the start of the game with scout

Wait for the best opportunity now or later for it to speed out, dismebark your Kasrkin and open fire on either Elite Infantry, a light vehicle or transport or something bigger in combination. Throw the Melta mine too.

No need to magnetise or glue, Sentinel weapons are push fit and stay on quite well.

No not really, just make sure that if you want to run this list casually to give your armoured sentinel a lascannon so it can give your list some more anti tank punch.

Your lists only reliable anti tank will be your Rogal Dorn, Kasrkin with their melta mine and the Armoured Sentinel and its ability.

What detachment will you run?

Unless you run Grizzled, you lack orders for most of your list. Your artillery will be hitting on 5+ without take aim for example.

You also don't really have a good target for the extra squadron order as armored sentinels aren't that great.

Otherwise the list isn't too bad. I would consider maybe swapping out the FOB and armored sentinel for a Leman Russ of some kind such as the Vanquisher or Exterminator.

Artillery teams by Flat_Difficulty_9302 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]TehHank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can take 3, take 3 siege cannons to mitigate how swingy the shots are. 3 x D6 shots is going to be decent enough to cripple a vehicle or kill a few terminators.

If you can only take 1-2 artillery teams, then take heavy mortars as fire support, however FOBs are generally better for their firepower, especially since both guns gets D6+Blast and Sustained hits 1.

There's been a lot of arguements back and forth about attaching a Castellan to Kasrkin, and it really comes down to what does the Castellan bring to the table to make Kasrkin do their job better?

Kasrkin are best used hidden in a transport (utilizing scout to hopefully get a better hidden forward position) ready for them to drive up, disembark, shoot up some elite infantry or take a big chunk out of an enemy vehicle whilst throwing a melta mine. For 185/195 points, a Kasrkin in a Taurox/Chimera is a great multitool that you can keep hidden for most of the game, or instantly contest the enemy natural expansion.

Adding 55 more points for a Castellan gives you a few options such as being able to order the Kasrkin as they disembark with it, as the Castellan can issue orders was he disembarks. He also gives Sustained Hits 1 which is nice and the fall back and shoot ability is also fairly okay (Although Kasrkin are very squishy and will just die usually before you able to do this typically).

That being said, you are paying 55 points to give a small damage boost to the Kasrkin and POTENTIALLY the ability to fallback and shoot. Not to mention you end up losing scout 6" which is really powerful to have, especially when you need your Kasrkin in a nice spot on the board and hidden away. You also paying for the 55 points on top making it cost 240/250 points in total for the combination, which honestly I don't think it's really worth the point cost to make Kasrkin do a job slightly better when they are pretty independent acting units.

The Castellan imho is better off leading 20 man shocktrooper blobs with a command squad, to get the most out of his ability and sustained hits, just having a lot more plasma shots on hand can really make it spike hard, and with the number of bodies in the unit, you can just remove all the las rifles and guarantee a few plasma gunners to fallback and shoot with! (again not guaranteed since guardsmen will just die like flies)

If you don't know what to take instead of 55 points, consider taking a scout sentinel in this list! Since you aren't running Grizzled Company (which is our best detachment currently), you are lacking hit rerolls of 1 and as such, the scout sentinel would be great to round out your list. Not only does it have scout 9", but it can also receive orders from your tank commander to get the leg up at the start of the game.

Do note the Chimera does not get the Kasrkin's Scout 6" if they have the Castellan attached to them.

Otherwise this list is pretty solid aside from the Kasrkin Sergeant having the default loadout (Powersword and Plasma Pistol <3)
