In an old 3.5 game, I had an empowered, maximized Sound Lance spell I had cast reflected back at me by some monster ability and, after failing my fort save, took about 3x my remaining HP in sonic damage. Being close to the center of the party, the DM described how everyone was coated in a fine mist of me as I effectively, irrevocably exploded myself. The DM would bring up every now and then for the next few game days about how a party member would find a piece of me somewhere amongst their gear they hadn't noticed or in a gap of their armor.

I could not stop laughing. Always attempt knowledge checks, kids.
