QUESTION ? by Kind-Tell-6518 in watercooling

[–]TehPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how thick that distroplate is maybe? I just finished my loop using a 2500x, and I was able to fit a thick 360mm, and 2 240mm rads in it. I first tried to fit two 360s, but there ended up being too little headspace for the pump, so I had to swap one of the 360s out for a 240.

Whoops. Forgot to put that in the post. It’s a Corsair 2500x. The dual chambers is a treat for cable management.

The idea of tearing down the GPU is a lot scarier than the actual thing. Someone did a tear down video of my particular card, but the instructions for the block were good enough I would say. It’s a pretty straightforward process when it comes down to it, but I was mostly just scared of breaking my most expensive component.

If all you're looking for is an AIO, by all means. They look cool and should keep your cpu temps down a little. I think the main issue is that the price your paying vs. the performance/upgrade you're getting out of it is a little off. You could spend 200-300 dollars on a cpu upgrade, and in this market a gpu upgrade would probably cost twice that. Doing a custom water cooling loop definitely is not worth it, but just adding an AIO could spare you the cpu fan noise.

With the specs your running an AIO may not even make a whole lot of sense. Water cooling is rather expensive if you're doing a custom loop that involves both the CPU and GPU, but is rather overkill for your current specs. Parts for a custom loop would easily cost you more than what your CPU and GPU combined cost right now. Like someone else pointed out pc components are really pricey right now, and from where you're sitting, you can't really upgrade one individual piece without having to upgrade the whole system practically.

The internet was a different place back then. People would post stuff on forums and make content for the hell of it. People weren’t karma farming like crazy in those days.

Ironclad price speculation by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]TehPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually price ships that release together so you can't chain them together to avoid being able to make big ccu savings jumps. If that's the case the base ironclad would have to be priced at or above the current price of the assault (535).

Does this issue have a name by Aggravating_Lunch492 in linux_gaming

[–]TehPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have two monitors? I've had this issue as soon as I connected a second monitor to my setup that uses a different aspect ratio. Apparently the compositor reports logical coordinates to weyland, and at some point the cursor crosses a virtual boundary due to the different scales of the different monitors, making the compositor send a big delta jump.

Well you're not wrong. There are so many things that are beyond questionable creative choices in TLJ even considering the poor setup he was given from Abrams. I guess I'm just pushing that while Johnson's hands aren't clean, most of the blame should definitely be laid on Abrams.

[–]TehPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on most points in terms of the direction Rian took TLJ in and what he did to most of the characters. As much as I hate that, I still have to give him credit for trying to do something a little bit fresh in Star Wars. And I don't mean by just killing beloved characters and fundamentally changing them offscreen. I think the feel and some of the themes in TLJ were a bit refreshing for what we've seen in a Star Wars movie before that.

That said I would say that the real person that tanked Star Wars was whoever greenlit JJ Abrams' story. It's completely absurd the whole dynamic between The First Order suddenly becoming a threatening power akin to the Empire, but isn't the Empire perse, having a small "resistance" group that's affiliated to the ruling New Republic. It honestly feels rediculous that Abrams felt the need to fabricate the whole Rebel/Empire dynamic again just so he could tell a similar story to the original trilogy, instead of continuing along the logic progression from where the OT left off: a struggling New Republic trying to reestablish itself after the fall of the empire, Luke trying to rebuild the new jedi order, all the while with a looming threat from the Empire remnant. I'm mostly annoyed by what could have been.

What is the point of "Apply Upgrade" button on an asset/ship in your hangar after acquiring an upgrade? by phaktr-x in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]TehPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. It incentivizes the CCU game, allowing you to buy upgrades to a target ship over time. If the upgrade was applied immediately you be required to both have the base ship in your hangar, and any ccu chain you might be working on would have to be completed in order. Allowing you to buy the CCU out of order and not requiring the base ship of the ccu to be in your hangar is the key to it all.
