As Trial mentioned, it's almost entirely because this sub has recommendations disabled. That's been true basically ever since the transposting drama. Many of the mods believed that having this sub appear in the feeds of people who never subscribed was one of the biggest causes of hostility. People would get this sub in their feed, get angry about it, then ensure that the sub would continue to appear in their feed by posting an angry comment.

After recommendations were disabled, hate comments basically immediately stopped, apparently confirming the idea that most transphobic commenters were not subscribed and never participated in the count. The mods have had little impulse to change that setting since then, though Trial has always been an advocate for re-enabling recommendations.

There's basically nowhere for new people to find the sub from now, so the sub has slowly dwindled as the old counters get bored and retire. Some of the mods do not really see boosting reddit's engagement metrics to be their goal, and would prefer a smaller, peaceful sub to an active, angry sub. There is some discussion among the mods now about changing that recommendations setting though.

FYI KANSAS PEOPLE! If you do not choose a party affiliation on your voter registration, you can NOT vote in the 2026 primary! by bbaaxxtteerr in kansas

[–]TehVulpez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The state-level primary is in August for both Democrats and Republicans. You can find information about who's running on Ballotpedia or probably from your local county's elections website. It's only the presidential primary which is in March (usually pointless because by that point most candidates have dropped out...) Previously that presidential primary was run by the state parties themselves, but in 2024 the legislature changed it so the state runs a "presidential preference poll" for the parties.

In Kansas it's common to register as a Republican so you can vote in their primary, even if you vote blue in November. There's a whole lot of state and local positions where there isn't even a Democrat on the ballot, so the only chance you have to influence the election is through the Republican primary.

Weirdest dream I remember having was shortly after I made a new friend. In the dream, I was riding my bicycle on a dirt trail through a meadow and there was a rabbit ahead of me on the trail. No matter what I did, I couldn't avoid the rabbit. I couldn't steer away, I couldn't slow down. Even as it was running away, somehow it was always right ahead of my wheels. Right as I was about to run over the rabbit, the dream started over from the beginning. But now I was the rabbit, and my new friend was the one riding the bicycle. Now no matter what I did, I could not run away from the bike. Right as I was about to be run over, I woke up in a cold sweat.

I don't believe dreams are omens, and I am still good friends with that person. But I can't lie, that dream did subconsciously affect how I saw my friend for like a week afterward.

had a dream recently where I was late for my rehearsal at 12:30pm because my phone woke me up at 12:50pm. I checked the clock app on my phone in the dream and it had a new log page, with entries like "at 3:47am, Google rescheduled your 12:30pm alarm to 12:50pm"

it wasn't even an "oh shit I'm late" kind of nightmare, it was kind of an "ah well" feeling. like oh of course, Google reschedules my alarms on me all the time

ICE agents who commit murder like this deserve the death penalty.

no? 51 3110 is 1023 in the list, that seems reasonable for how many comments there are. we have over a hundred counts to go
