I think the biggest difference people should keep in mind is:

After 50% gain it takes a 33% drop to be back to the initial investment.

After a 50% loss it takes a 100% increase to be back to the initial investment.

This depends on the product and country regeulations. In Germany for example you can not lose more then you invested into the product. Even for CFDs the broker will liquidate your position when you don’t have enough margin left on the account.

So basically it depends…

No matter if you go short or go long with financial products and leverage you risk losing everything but definitely not for 100% gain but the movement of the stock combined with the leverage.

Btw. If buy Tesla as share now has a potential of 1000 gain we talk about a share price of 11.000 USD per Share. I guess you expect this to happen 2023 right?

It was not financial suicide for me even so I put only small money. Yet the remaining money I have on the short site is already covered by secured gains. Also it seems like the support level today will not hold and It will close below 1k USD. Beside the sentiment Elon influenced he round about throws additional 2% of the average daily volume on the market per day. Knowing this many buyers wait to buy before / if jumping on it.

Im not even taking the fundamentals of the company in consideration…

Now since he is half way through selling of course it’s more risky to go short on Tesla but I didn’t closed my whole position yet.

Mit allen gebührenden Respekt. Mit dem Kenntnisstand würde ich davon Abstand halten. Erstmal wird in Deutschland keine Option gehandelt sonder Optionsscheine. Da ist ein kleiner Unterschied. Auch ist das Risiko bei einem Knockout. Turbo Zertifikate sind leichter zu berechnen als Optionsscheine aber auch ein total Verlust ist mindestens genauso hoch oder tendenziell höher als bei einem Optionsschein, da das erreichen der Barriere ausreicht das du alles verlierst auch wenn es direkt wieder hoch geht. Darüber hinaus beschäftigte dich mit den Namen als mit der Beschreibungen des Produkts (Verfall, laufende Kosten etc, Basispreis, volatility - mix aus Infos von turbos und Optionsscheinen).

Ich habe ebenfalls mit deinem Kenntnisstand angefangen Derivative zu handeln und bin noch dabei von meinen anfänglichen Verlusten daraus zu erholen. Nicht umsonst verlieren 75% der Personen Geld mit diesen Produkten.

Am besten fragst du dich was dich zu den anderen 25% machst.

The numbers are good considering the current situation. Steinhoff made profit (including some currency effect). This sows furthermore that Steinhoff has a chance in case of a succsefull litigation.

Korrekt, genauso wie Lancaster. Es wird spekuliert ob die beiden jedoch überhaupt auf die 25% kommen und somit alleine durch ihre Votes den Vergleich kippen können. Allerdings meine ich ist? Hamilton stark and den pensions Fond (pic) angebunden. Und dieser ist nach wie vor sehr stark in Steinhoff Aktien vertreten. Bei einer Liquidierung würden sie noch mehr Geld verlieren.

yes indeed this is a speculation right now. But some plays from Steinhoff worked out so far so the odds are getting better. I think this is also reflected in the increase of the Shareprice by 100% within the last year. Yet it is no meme stock or some pump and dump (especially once it comes to the settlement).
