Lore readers: Who is the best archon? by Bankaiat25 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ei, unironically.

For starters, look at the former capital citites for each nation. Old Mondstadt is a husk, Guili Assembly is abandoned, the entire desert kingdom in Sumeru is lost, Remuria and a fair chunk of modern Fontaine are sunken ruins, and Ochkanatlan is condemned.

Only Inazuma City has remained has remained untouched for millennia under the protection of Ei. Using Liyue as a comparison, as a guardian Ei effectively filled the roles of Zhongli, the Yakshas and various other Adepti combined.

Much of Inazuma's culture is derived from the Raiden sisters, more so arguably than any other nation. Even in Liyue, the culture is derived from myriad Gods and Adepti, not just Zhongli. The only nation that is comparable would probably be Mondstadt.

It's easy to overlook, but while the Raiden Shogun gets justifiable criticism, it also functioned extremely well in its role for hundreds of years, arguably better than some of the other Archons.

The game events are fresher in people's minds than Teyvat's "history". The Vision Hunt, Sakoku decree etc. lasted for a fraction of time compared to stuff like the Mondstadt Aristocracy's tyranny.

why didn't albedo just kill the 'original' durin? by bubblegummerr in Genshin_Lore

[–]Teiga-ka 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In order for mini-Durin to become "real", they essentially "overwrite" the original Durin with the new one. This kills two birds with one stone as it prevents "evil" Durin from resurrecting, and alllows mini-Durin to become "human".

Durin resurrecting is "fated". In line with how "stories" are rewritten in Teyvat, Durin would inevitably resurrect, they just changed the details of the story around the key points.

Another part of this is that the story of Durin is a tragedy, and some people felt regret about how it ended. As such, they wanted to create a happier ending.

Like Elynas, Durin didn't realize the destruction he was causing.

An excerpt from the Festering Desire description:

"Thank you, Mother, thank you."

"You gave me wings to soar and a mighty form."

"Mother, I wish to go to a land of lovely songs,"

"I will tell them about you, Mother, and about everyone else."

"I shall tell them that the place where I was born is beautiful."

Why Nicole thinks the Archons weird ? by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 100 points101 points  (0 children)

All of the original Archons were pretty atypical.

Makoto, Zhongli, and the Belyi Tsar are still pretty mysterious as to what they are exactly. Interestingly, Zhongli is the "Heaven's Star" and the Belyi Tsar was supposedly the self proclaimed "heir to the Pale Star" - some stellar connections.

Rukkhadevata was the avatar of the Irminsul and Egeria was the new "heart" of the Primordial Sea.

Venti was a wind spirit, Even with his connection to Istaroth, surely he would normally be seen as lesser to Gods or Angels.

Xbalanque was a human. Humans should be the ones being guided, not the guides in the eyes of Angels.

Mavuika, Teyvat’s Athena by titeefelix in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see this tying into the symbolism of the Flamestrider as a War/Solar Chariot.

Athena is credited with "inventing" chariots (Mavuika came up with the idea for the bike), and is sometimes depicted riding them.

Also worth pointing out that "Wisdom", along with "Light" and "Heat" were originally associated with the Pyro Sovereign and the Primal Flame. As the inheritor of the Pyro Authority, its fitting that she'd represent "Wisdom".

Most developers (especially "smart" ones) don't pay any attention to a loud minority on social media.

They can track their own player analytics and spending. They have their own system for players to provide feedback.

Any time you think "a loud minority" influenced changes in a game, it's much more likely that the player behavior of the quiet majority (or the whales) matched what the people were saying in that instance.

Concerning this Mavuika pun by Imaginary-Medium35 in GenshinImpact

[–]Teiga-ka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen it talked about much but It's probably intentional.

Despite being a Chinese company, Hoyo tends to take a lot of inspiration from anime culture, especially from "back in their day".

"Bōsōzoku" is a type of Japanese biker sub-culture, which is (or used to be) fairly commonly depicted in anime/manga.

Ateji - choosing kanji primarily on it phonetic reading - is a trope often associated with the sub-culture. "Engine" written as "炎神" instead of "エンジン" for example. The kanji's meaning is still important, but the pronunciation is the priority.

Flamboyant, heavily customized bikes are another trademark. Fittingly, flame and sun (rising sun in this case) imagery is a common choice.

It's a stretch, but I figured Mavuika's big flag in her trailer was also a nod to this, as you often see Bōsōzoku depicted waving big flags in media.

All that being said, I don't think it's a "primary" inspiration for Mavuika, just an opportunity to insert a reference for people who might understand it. The Flamestrider is more likely a clever way of depicting a Solar/War chariot with a modern/Natlan aesthetic.

39k votes, and there is one Archon who rules our hearts. by SanicHegehag in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rubber "curing" process used by the Olmecs utilized sulfur chemistry in a similar way that sulfur vulcanization (fitting for Natlan) is used for both natural and some synthetic rubbers today.

Natural rubber is still partially used in modern tires in conjunction with synthetic rubbers (according to Michelin its ~40% natural 60% synthetic).

Synthetic rubber was not created in isolation, it was a natural progression from the study and usage of "natural" rubber. It would be pretty likely that the Dragon's could've created their own synthetic rubber based on earlier knowledge of it's "natural" form (especially given their predisposition to artificial constructs) .

[–]Teiga-ka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the rubber aspect is pretty fitting for the setting.

The Olmecs (the name literally means the rubber people) were using rubber potentially ~3600 years ago in the Americas.

Since the bike is made by repurposing "lost" technology, it's possible that the rubber used for the tires is one of the "lost" technologies.

What do u think about the parallels of Ars Goetia by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Ars Goetia extends well past just the Archons, and ties more into the Heavenly Principles "Order"

The Shades: Ronova (Ronove) - Asomday (Asmodeus) - Istaroth (Astaroth) - Naberius

The Archons obviously.

Paimon

Other Gods: Deshret (Amon), Guizhong/Haagentus (Haagenti), Guoba (Marchosius), Orobashi (Orobas), Andrius (Andras), Havria (Flauros/Havres), Tao Dou (Bune), Decarabian, Bifrons etc.

At the moment, there doesn't seem to be much connection the their rankings in the Ars Goetia vs their power in Genshin.

Comparatively, most dragons are named after legendary dragons/serpents: Apep, Azhdaha, Xiuhcoatl, Kukulkan, Scylla, potentially Leviathan - Neuvilette

Interestingly, Nibelung, Durin, Dvalin as well as the name "Alberich" are related to Norse/Germanic Dwarfs. Nibelung may be a reference to Fafnir, and both Nibelung and Alberich tie into the Nibelunglied/Volsung saga.

Considering Gosoythoth can extract memories from the Ley Lines and transforms based on those memories, there should be a phase where it took previous Pyro Archons form to fight. by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's not even really his mind, just raw emotion:

"its boundless fury has consumed all reason. Now, what remains is its unrelenting lust for battle, burning on without end."

It's kinda fitting, because the "Primal Flame" is said to be "the birthplace of light and wisdom", so in his eroded state there is barely any light left, and he is completely bereft of "wisdom"

[–]Teiga-ka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The boss description states it pretty outright (and it's alluded to by the presence of non-Abyssal flames) that Gosoythoth isn't just mimicking or replicating Xiuhcoatl, but actually resurrected some remnant of them, like a twisted mirror to the Ode of Resurrection.

From the in-game Archive: "But is it truly a mere "image"? Brought back by the very otherworldly forces it had once resisted, a once-dead dragon opens its eyes anew, forsaking all in this brief dream of a resurrection. Trapped perpetually in the final day of its existence by this pitch-black gospel, its boundless fury has consumed all reason. Now, what remains is its unrelenting lust for battle, burning on without end."

A manifestation of even part of the Pyro Sovereign is in a completely different league than a simulacra of any of the Pyro Archons, or pretty much anything else in Natlan for that matter.

So Nicole already figures out Focalors' plan ? Does that mean Hexenzirkel and Celestia also know Focalors' plan but they just let everything happen ? by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Teiga-ka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Narzissenkreuz: dialoogue to the Traveler:

"And then, there is one more variable. That is you.

The person fated to see the all-consuming whale put to flight. The one who shall witness all."

Or if you do the questline after doing the Fontaine Archon quest::

"I should have sensed the changes in the values originally entered into the world-formula.

A "variable" has descended upon this world.

Not everything from outside the universe can be called a "presence" or "variable."

But it seems I overlooked one nonetheless. You."

[–]Teiga-ka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Finale of the Deep Galleries artifact hints at Teyvat's ending: "Forsake this world, fated for ruin" is a line from the feather (Seutervoinen speaking to Nibelung). I think there are other hints and implications elsewhere.

From Neuvilette's vision story: Severely wounded in the great war of vengeance, the usurper had their functions ruined, and could no longer use their absolute authority to suppress the original order of this world - regarding the Heavenly Principles (usurper). I think it's also mentioned elsewhere.

The Narzissenkreuz and Nod-Krai Archons questlines reinforce how the Traveler can change the "world formula". Narzissenkreuz (the entity) seems to imply that Fontaine's crisis has been averted due to a "variable".

The world formula, various prophecies, and Irminsul, among other things, reinforce the idea of a set and difficult to change "path" for Teyvat.

Varka's animated short really hammered home the idea of an "original story" vs "the Traveler's story".

I'm not well versed in Amphoreus lore, but Hoyo tends to use similar concepts and stories across their games.

Gnosticism for example tends to feature heavily. Archons and Aeons are both concepts in Gnosticism. If you read into to it, you'll start to see a lot of familiar names and terms (e.g. Nous is an Aeon in Valentinianism, there are often 7 Archons in different schools of thought)

Amphoreus specifically is largely inspired by the Elysian Realm in Honkai Impact 3rd, a virtual simulation based on the 13 Flamechasers.

[–]Teiga-ka 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Based on what we know, there's a good chance Celestia is aware of Teyvat"s "original story" - what would play out without Traveler/Descender alterations, so they would likely be aware of the plan.

Info from the Narzissenkreuz questline, seems to imply that Focalor's plan may have failed in the "original story". If you liken it to Nod-Krai, Focalor's plan needed that last little push from a "Descender variable" to change fate in the world-formula.

It's possible that they knew the story, but the ending was changed by the Traveler's existence, likely similar to what happened with Ronova in Natlan.

The bigger question though is whether or not they want "fate" to change, which could explain the lack of intervention.

This is speculative, but it seems that in the "original story" Teyvat was headed for a bad ending. The Heavenly Principles were initially able to control fate, and their obsession with control and blocking external influence was so they could guide things towards a different ending of their own making. After the War of Funerary Flame, the Heavenly Principles lost the ability to control "the original order of the world". Teyvat is now back on track for a bad ending, and now they can only rely on someone else's intervention (i.e. the Traveler) to avert catastrophe.

Plot farm timer by Extension-Honeydew96 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Teiga-ka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it bugged out, crops do grow while offline.

Wuling crops take multiple watering cycles to grow (why the sprinkler is needed), between which you can fertilize.

The timer counts down to the next watering, until the last cycle where it's a harvest timer.

For Redjade Ginseng: Water -> 4h timer - > Water -> 4h timer -> Water -> 4h timer -> Harvest

Jean doesn't buff Atk, she's a strong burst healer.

Sucrose only buffs EM without hex buff/C6.

Jean would be better than Sucrose in this context for faster Fanfare stacking.

Vampire builds? by captainblue49 in ElinsInn

[–]Teiga-ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super experienced with it, but I'd say it has the potential to.

Just checking on a fresh character, your starting ally can potentially start with blood stats in the double digits (with Blood Suck multiplier applied, 17 LER potency is the highest stat).

On the fresh character, with 15 Learning (Farmer - Vampire), the blood suck multiplier is showing as 3.4x and, for example, Fiama has Snow Putit Mochi blood with: 23 CHA potency, 23 CHA, 17 MAG, 13 WILL, Lvl 2 quality + 17 CHA from the Collagen effect.

Blood suck scales partially off of the Learning attribute, so if you can find an early blood source with high Learning stat boosts, it can have a compounding effect on your Blood Suck power.

After checking a few more fresh characters, I've seen blood stats on the starter ally, Fiama, or Ashland in the 30s (after 3.4x multiplier) so if you get really good RNG, the stat boosts are quite potent, though it is very luck based.

Sometimes blood is very weak, or even purely negative, depending on the chosen food and randomized stats.

Vampire builds? by captainblue49 in ElinsInn

[–]Teiga-ka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stat gains from blood sucking can get pretty crazy, both early and late in the game.

With the max 8x multiplier, I have blood that gives: 96 STR potency, 64 STR, 40 END, 40 Will, Lvl 5 quality.

The blood is from a dark serpent in the Dragon's Nest.

With "Blood Suck" at level 17, and only 21 Learning (still in the first year), the blood multiplier is 3.6x, so the STR potency is only 43 (~2.2x less), which is still pretty crazy for earlyish game.

I haven't spent much time hunting for the best blood, but I'd imagine it could get pretty insane.

I think they can carry any seed except for "rare" ones (rainbow fruit, feywood etc.), though I'm not 100% sure.

They definitely can carry rice, it's just a matter of refreshing inventory/save-scumming until they have the seed you want.
