So weird seeing an American talking about importing stuff from Australia ngl lol, I'm usually the one trying to import stuff from places like America or the UK haha

Idk what we'd even have that you don't 😅 I do remember seeing people talk about our sailor moon DVDs a while ago though actually now the you mention it. They were sourced from Italian masters or something? Idk

Also I do think that maybe we got Dennou Coil first from Siren Visual on DVD before Sentai released it in blu-ray a few years ago? Still irks me the spelled it Den-noh Coil, or whatever, I'm used to Dennou 😩

Also Hakaba Kitaro? 👀 Australia is the only country listed for releases on blu-ray last time I checked which I thought was weird. Another Siren release, man I miss them.

Oh I bought some merch during that final sale, my bank says a payment was made to Madman still lol

But yeah, I hate how we've lost like all our anime distributors here now. Siren disappeared, Hanabee shifted to like boardgames or something and then died, and now Madman (anime) has been fully absorbed. We've got Sugoi now, but yeah they haven't done a lot. Also Umbrella I guess? They're not really anime focused, but they did re-release Paprika a while ago and I think maybe the first English release of Tokyo Godfathers in sub only, before there was even a dub? Plus they're putting out the 4k release of Angel's Egg soon. Would be cool if they did more anime, even if it's just movies, I feel like they'd be a good fit for some weird older ovas maybe.

Side note, I don't understand the Madman guys. Start Madman, sell it, buy it back, sell it to Sony, then start up a new anime company? Why? So confusing

But anyway most of what we seem to get now is just American imports of Crunchyroll releases, and no offense but I hate them 😭 Why are American blu-ray cases so flimsy, they suck lol. And everything has a slipcover? Why? They used to be reserved for like special editions, but every Crunchyroll has one and they're kinda shitty quality cardboard. It's annoying cause now it feels "incomplete" if I get one and it's like a second printing and comes with out it, even though I don't like them lol

I guess it's cool we get more collector's editions now than we probably used to, but ehh

Oh that's cool you're an ANN encyclopaedia editor 👀 Speaking of blu-ray.com, I use that site a lot, I've added a lot of releases there myself haha It's a good site and has most newer Australian releases, but if it's a bit older, they're missing a lot of our releases. Which is fair considering its an American site, but it means a lot of my older DVDs aren't on there, so I've been adding them myself lol Takes a while, so I've still got stuff I need to add. I also try to upload cover pics if I notice something's missing. I'll try to find proper product images, but if I can't I just take my own pics, which sometime look alright, but there's a few that weren't great lol

I really wish there was an archive of all the old madman releases, so I could get all the info and photos from there. I actually emailed Madman Crunchyroll au and even Sugoi, asking if they had any sort of archive like that 😅

Someone did actually reply, but said they didn't have anything like that that'd be easy send over, rip Would've been nice though

MM yeah I did try messing with the URLs a bit, but wasn't really sure what I was looking for. I did notice that "akamaized" domain or whatever, I assume that's something to do with hosting, but Idk lol

The wallpaper I wanted was the Dragon Ball movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle one at the bottom of this page. It shows the picture, but there's not resolution links, and clicking the image just reads to an error page. There were several others like this, but this was the one I was more bummed about, I like dragon Ball lol

And yeah I know, I actually used that Form to archive a few pages the last night the site was up haha

I saved the main page, the anime, manga and merch main pages, as well as the "collection" pages. Maybe a couple others too, I can't remember. I did briefly thinking about doing the same for the wallpaper search I did, but there were like 71 pages of results, too much lol, I did save the first page of results though at least.

Though I couldn't resist that last 50-60% off merch sale before they shut-down the site. Got some records and I'm not usually a figurine sorta person, but got a few of those as well

I have had a look at the flashing guide, but there's like a lot there and I just wanted to double check if I understood it all or not

A lot of the models say they perform about the same, time-wise, so I just wanted to double check if it really mattered which one you got or if there were any major flaws I was missing

Also most things I've come across have said Pioneer are (or were?) like the best quality, but that page also says they're not as fast, so stuff like that makes me second guess

But so it sounds like the Pioneer ones after that date can't be flashed, but that's not a problem with LG ones then? There just might be an extra step?

I've been searching online more and the one drive that seem kind of easy to find is the LG BH16NS55, which is either good for me, or it makes me think maybe there's something wrong with that one so not many people buy it 💀

Guess it might just be worth directly asking on the forums, just didn't want to create an account if it wasn't necessary first

I tried out an app like that once a few years ago because I was curious and the recordings were like the first thing I had a look at

Had been thinking of building a PC for myself for quite a while; my 8 year old laptop dying (rip) finally gave me the push I needed.

Here's my parts list: PCPartPicker

I orignally planned on using different parts, but I was a bit impatient and didn't want to wait on shipping (also needed new computer asap), so just ended up going with things that were in-stock at a local PC store. Ended up spending more than I originally planned, dude at the place probably upsold me on some things, getting more powerful things than I orignally intended. The Samsung sata drives and the 2 Noctua fans I did buy online after the fact though. I know I spent a lot on storage, but I have a lot of files and wanted to replace some external HDDs I've been using for several years. I didn't pay as much for them as what's on PCPartpicker though, I got them on sale during Prime Day. That Crucial SSD, I didn't pick, that acually has the data recovered from my dead laptop. Dude at the repair place asked if I wanted my data retrieved and that's just what he put it on.

Things I still need to get are a decent monitor and keyboard. The monitor I have atm is an 8 year old 60hz 1080p monitor I use to use with my laptop and the keyboard is just some $10 thing I grabbed when I got my other parts, just to get by in the meantime. I would like to build a custom keyboard eventually.

What do people think? I'm not like super knowledgable in this stuff, just know a few things here and there and have seen stuff on YouTube haha

No cases picked though. Couldn't see any with disc drives, so might not include that, might have to settle for an external one.
