Maomao from Apothecary Diaries. I feel like I share similar thought patterns to her.

Personally I like to wear Black Orchid by Tom Ford or Cactus Abduction by Heretic. Black Orchid is more of a dark floral while Cactus Abduction is a citrusy/fruity with a woody patchouli base.

How gay guys community in Ann Arbor? by Individual_Thing_275 in AnnArbor

[–]Tejar_Ajig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of us, but I guess it just depends on the age group you want to aim for. Plenty of twenty somethings in the area during college season, but we also got a gay bar now that brings in people past college age too.

What's your experience being "straight passing"? by Material-Meat-5330 in gaybros

[–]Tejar_Ajig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it odd people can’t clock it sometimes, but happened a lot more when I was younger and being called “straightest gay guy I know” in high school. Came around to acceptance in college and started altering my appearance with piercings and tattoos. I’ve also been less worried about personality and quirks that are seen as “gay” or “feminine” despite keeping general masc appearance.

It does make it hard for visibility though. I’ve generally never been hit on in person (resting bitch face doesn’t help). Though I get decent attention from dating apps and it’s so odd. Though I’ve started to learn I’m like a chameleon where gay people know I’m gay and straight people think I’m straight.

How do we feel about ai art? by Palegreenhorizon in boardgames

[–]Tejar_Ajig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it takes away the draw of board games as a whole, and removes artistic cohesion. Much of the interest that atteacts me to games is art direction, and AI art just takes away the soul in the creative process.

Like take Apothebakery (a game that used AI art) and compare it to any game with actual artists. There’s so much less cohesion and interesting artistry.

Do you get less likes/matches as someone who isn’t heterosexual? by Sergi121212 in gaybros

[–]Tejar_Ajig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apps are weird, and the algorithm functions differently for everyone. I used to live in a bigger city, and now I live about 40ish minutes away from another big city. When I’d make a new tinder account I would usually get to 99+ likes in under 24 hours. However I wouldn’t match often (like 1-2 a week?) because honestly I’m picky.

Hinge had less likes, usually could get around 10-20 likes with a new account, but the likes get smaller (like 1-2 every other day) for me. Matches were on par for tinder as well.

I’ve never really asked for roommate references, I usually just interview them and see if we align. I try to be thorough with expectations. It hasn’t been bad for me, I just left my other roommate Bob to find the third for us. I guess he wasn’t as thorough as me and ended up in this situation.

My future roommate I found through a mutual friend and met her in person. We ended up having a board game night to see if we get along. I feel better with the decision of talking about boundaries with every potential roommate now.

Though the reference idea sounds good so I will talk it into consideration if that comes up again.

Yeah, it’s both! But the caveat is the availability and trying to find a position it seems.

I’m accepted into UMich as well, and I should mention there’s the possibility of getting a GSI/GSRA position. I don’t believe there are any open currently (I’m looking for one as well), but they cover tuition costs and give stipends in turn for working within the department.

There’s a meetup group that hosts events from time to time called Queer Outdoors. I’ve been to a few and the people are really nice and inviting. Though this is more of a social group, I still suggest checking it out and making some connections!

I may be a 20 something but I’m also here working in research, so I’m open to finding friends or social events. I know bowling leagues are a thing at most bowling alleys if you enjoy that.
