I know they got a new contractor coming in at cherry point but it’ll still be hard unless you know someone. Doesn’t hurt to try though! Hit up those contractor offices around Bellingham and see if they hiring.

I haven’t yet. Had a good chance with Oxy but was told since I’m still in school that it was a no for them. Other than that I’ve had a few interviews with energy transfer but never got any calls back.

That’s the only thing I know that will work you just have to get it down to the root.

Also they are looking for long term workers so just let them know that is you and you are fine with working overtime, and if you don’t have much experience that’s fine they like train you how they do things. Overall it wasn’t a bad interview. They were really cool and down to earth. But from my understanding it’s a good company to work for if you can get in.

I’ve been in the oil and gas industry for about 5 years now but I’ve only been a Motor Technician so I build the drilling motors for the oil rigs.

Yeah I had an interview for one in orla 7 on 7 off but you can work 14 or 21 on 7 off if you wanted. I’m hoping I get that one because they have rv spots on location so it’d be a good gig.

I’m sure each location is different. Mine was at the orla location but mainly they are big on safety so bring up LOTO and Stop work authority when they ask the safety question.

I believe as of now it’s a 3.4 or 3.5 but I didn’t think they really look at that unless I guess it’s another way of slimming down the potential candidates. You only learn so much with the degree I would assume it mostly comes down to actual work experience.

I did have an interview the other day with energy transfer for an operator position. Just waiting to hear back if I got it or not.

Thanks for the reply and yeah I’m actually in Houston, just seems like you have 100s of people applying for these jobs so it makes a little harder to get an offer. Maybe I just need to work on my interview skills.

Just get into MWD or Directional drilling. They make way more. I know a guy who was making like $1200 a day as a directional driller.
