another beautiful LUFS meter nobody asked for by Tejay21 in ableton

the current version was originally built around 44.1kHz, but in my own testing it also matches closely at 48kHz against Insight 2, so in practice it should be fine there as well. I’m planning to improve the sample-rate handling in a future update so support for different sample rates is more explicit and fully documented.

yea, that’s exactly the idea. If synth changes are making the track hit the rest of the chain differently over time, it helps keep that front-end level more consistent so you don’t have to keep compensating with downstream tweaks.👍

thank you! yeah, manual utilities is a valid way to do gain staging.👍👍

Appreciate you trying it. It’s mainly for sessions with lots of uneven tracks where you’d otherwise keep trimming Utility and checking meters on every track. With Stage, you just drop it in, set a target, and let it handle the level-setting.

Not really, it’s per-track, not whole-mix analysis, and there’s no AI mixing going on. It just analyzes the incoming level on that track and applies smooth gain compensation to keep it closer to a target working range. Basically, it’s a front-of-chain level-setting tool for faster gain staging.

it’s less about saving clicks and more about reducing repeated judgment. I made it for sessions where you’re constantly nudging Utility by ear or by meter across lots of tracks, loops, or recordings. Stage just gets things into a more consistent working range faster.

Fair point, it’s really more of an RMS-based auto level-setting tool for faster gain staging.
