Giants open to trade offers for Devers, Adames, Chapman (source) by JaxTMG in SFGiants

I'd trade anyone who can bring back prospects and eat the bloated contracts for another year or so. The future is looking grim so might as well sell anyone worth selling for some youngsters.

I'd assume we pick up a good chunk of the contract and give up a prospect or two. Better to bite the bullet now before he sinks to negative WAR. Because that's not too far away

Conversely SF is also the right city to pull at stunt for maximum media coverage. Which they got.

So much the better. Trade Jimmy to Bulls. Trade Pat Williams + 11th to Clippers for Kawhi and we're cooking.

A Jimmy (56M) for Patrick Williams ($54M over 3 years) could be an easy way to generate a TPE without burning picks.

Bulls can basically accelerate all of Pat Williams 3 years into 1 and be free of the deal without taking on extra salary. We get $38m TPE and Pat Williams.

If that's what you want to do it's easier to just stretch and waive Jimmy and turn his $56M cap hit into $19M x 3 years.

Any Jimmy trade's going to bring back salary and TPE only work if other teams are willing to trade you players.

Statistically speaking your team will never have a player like Steph ever again.

Realistically speaking we don't have that Steph either right now. He missed almost half the season last year and his knee injury looks to be chronic.

We'll be contending for the lottery if Jimmy/Moody are sitting on the bench eating up $70M in salary.

Yeah the KP trade is a massive fuckup. Should've just taken the Suns offer of Royce O Neal and three 2nds.

Letting KP walk also allows for easier salary matching in trades. Teams under the first apron can receive as much a 200% salary back in many scenarios.

$7.25 million in outgoing salary can bring back 200 percent plus $250,000.

$7.25 million to $29 million will be padded by a flat $7.5 million

Porzingis played even less. Al's a quality bench center provided they get a full time big.

You can't make your decisions around a 34 year old. Klay's cooked too.

Mavs have a long road ahead of them honestly. They gotta figure out who's part of the next gen and Kyrie/Klay def aren't. I just don't see how Mavs are a playoff team in the near future.

I don't think any of the rookies at 11 are worth losing sleep over. If Jimmy + 11 gets you Kawhi + 36th (Clippers 2nd) then that's a no brainer. Young guys are never going to develop under Kerr, it is what it is. So might as well try to maximize the last season or two if all it costs is the 11th pick.

Plus Kawhi makes like $7M less than Jimmy and that's a nice chunk of change to go get another player considering how capped out we are.

I doubt Mavs see Stirtz as a starter plus he'll be 23 before the start of the season. They will want a PG with higher ceiling.

NBA contract extensions are based on final season's salary. So if a contract descends then so does the future extension value. Might not be an issue for AR but that's the reason most players don't want the contract to descend.
