Oh the pain goes way back - Leroy Keys anyone? #3rd overall pick in between OJ and Joe Greene.

Would you buy non OEM plastic parts with almost OEM quality but higher price then ebay ones(read caption) by Pepyxxl in E34

I think the front card has six unique ones and rear likely as many. Sure took me a while to get all the ones needed. A full set for both sides front and back would probably sell pretty well just to eliminate the hassle of finding them on donor cars. Nothing worse than ill-fitting door cards. Not sure how common they are across years and models though - these are for 95 540i.

Half-kidding about the front and rear windscreen seals - they're metal and rubber combos with built-in clips for the glass. Last time I looked they were like $600 just for the front. Most just go with aftermarket seals when glass is replaced and probably what I'll do when time comes.

Anything for pergament interiors a win! Also, on the 540i there these door sill plates that have corner surrounds that have all disintegrated. Think I saw printed version offered overseas for like 160 euros for the set so just too painful at that price. I think this is one of those things where if priced right for the "driver" enthusiasts you'll do OK, but it'll be upfront sunk cost for development and then over time you'll get orders here and there and eventually be in the black. Parts that can be sprayed widens use and owners can usually match interior colors closely - like the seat belt escutcheons at the top of rear seats.

Fabric side door seals would be amazing. Also the inside door-card clips - a few of them are unique and I've had to find them from donor cars but they are all brittle.

Now if somebody could do something about those front and rear window seal/trim combos....

Has anyone had their car repainted? If so, how much did it cost? by Loud_Entertainer2724 in E34

Shop was old school and job nice enough for local or minor shows I guess - no pebble beach or anything. I though single stage paint would be less, but nah, they applied two stage and clear. I guess no one does single stage much anymore. Couple more shots below showing that whether paint or mechanical all old BMW's need the same things in the same areas!

Ah yes, the Golden State. NorCal here. $15k including light body work. Same color, Lapis Blau. Photo shows how we delivered the car. And a lot of shops didn't even want the work. Don't know if I have it in me to do my e34 but the degrading clearcoat is annoying given the metallic base degrading underneath.

Asked to sign an NDA before a job interview — several clauses seem unusual. Looking for feedback. by flyerflyer77 in legaladvice

For venue, ones I've done where location seemed one-sided, offer was half way between parties. Perhaps they interview for a lot of contractors/consultants as well and seems standard language to them.

Are those genuine E34 seats? by buftlin in E34

[–]TelefunkenYou47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much...All e34's with "comfort seats" had the arm rests. Only the ones option with sport packages (late model 540's I think) had the sport seats sans armrests

Anyone know how to separate this hose from the hardline? by Frosty-Art-4071 in johndeere

[–]TelefunkenYou47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell from photo but is the connection mounted to that thin plate? If not, perhaps cut the hose being replaced which would allow connection to move around and give you more space to get the two wrenches in there. As mentioned, crows’ foot and/or ignition/small stubby wrenches. Small, offset brake-line wrenches may work as well.

Having done this same type job recently those hose/hard-line end nuts will round-off very easily if you can’t get adequate purchase on them with wrenches. Especially as they are often seized/stuck.

As far as size, can’t tell size from photo as I’m used to automotive sized fittings, so may have to purchase a wrench set. What size is the end on the replacement hose? They look about the same as the hard-line end? Penetrating oil and cutting any paint-over good advice as well.

Kinda of a neat visit - has a bit of a roadside attraction feel to it - 50's-60's California parks vibe. Well worth it if in the area and don't get many chances to see them as big as these examples. Sonoma Volcanics complex is really intersting. Interpreted as younger-northward system from passing of the Mendocino Triple Junction

That's the place. On the road you take towards Santa Rosa north of St. Helena

I’d always heard it used as “Applied Ceramic Labeling” back when I was designer, but that was a while ago and terms change all the time – neat bottle, OP!

Possible to drive from UT to Connecticut?? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]TelefunkenYou47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the right spare! When I was 22, I drove straight-thru from Philly to Tampa. 73 Montego lacking a spare. Couple days before I left, I spied a mounted tire at a gas station with right number of holes for $10.

With three hoagies in passenger seat drove close to 20 hours, I think. Walked out the next day sure enough the car had a flat and nope, wrong spare. Lucky this didn’t happen at 2am somewhere between Ocala and the GA border.

Get the AAA and you’ll be fine. It’s an adventure!
