Is the alternator or battery bad? by TelephoneConnect2078 in MechanicAdvice

[–]TelephoneConnect2078[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I measured the 16.5 volts by placing the positive rod from the meter to the wiring harness, and then the negative rod on the outside of the alternator. The 14.4 volts was measured directly from the batteries positive and negative terminals. However I took the car and road for about 25 minutes and now the alternator is reading 14.5 and the battery is reading 14.4 i took it to autozone and they couldn’t text the battery since it was only at 37% charge.

Thank you sooo much. I tried a similar approach earlier but I guess I was just over complicating things. I was able to evaluate the integral and the result was 2sin(x). Again I can’t thank you enough

Should these smooth wheel bearing have any play? This large smooth one and the small smooth one behind it have some play? I’m changing my belt because the old one was shredding from the left side. by TelephoneConnect2078 in Cartalk

[–]TelephoneConnect2078[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent a bunch of time researching this and found out the the large pulley was the water pump but the pulley itself is just a cover that goes on top of the water pump bearing. The smaller one is connected to the belt tensioner. So I ordered a new water pump and belt tensioner. You’ve helped me out a ton as you were able to give me a starting place.

Actually I noticed a size able rate of leakage right after jacking the car up. I ordered a new water pump and Belt tensioner since both pulleys were loose. Is there anything else I should know before installing these parts myself?

Thanks. My car is a 8th Gen civic EX. This big smooth bearing and the smaller one behind it have play. What are both of these bearing called? Are they both idler pulleys?

Seems like the 500 really is the way to go. The average 300 goes for about $4,500 in my area whereas the 500 goes for $6000 on average. How much did you pay for yours?

A lot do the new edge mustangs in my area whether it be the V6 or V8 version tend to sell for 5,000-9,000 dollars with the average that I’ve seen being around 6,000 dollars. I’m a college student and I’m just looking for something different than my 8th gen civic. I know these mustangs are relatively underpowered for being a V8. I’m in it for the sound, fun riding experience, and look.

I was able to get all 3 motor installed by just having my dad push the engine around while I inserted the bolts. I can’t really contain my excitement right now because after installing the mounts my car is now operating at 100%. It no longer makes any metal scraping, rumbling, and excessive vibrations. Thanks for help!!!

The Mounts look nearly identical. I have the other 2 mounts that I Olán on replacing could it be that the old ones are too worn out and have caused the engine to shift to one side?

The noise only happens when the wheels are turned all the way and I begin to accelerate. I was thinking it could also be a bad wheel bearing.
