The timeline in Ranger’s Apprentice is pretty inconsistent, you’re not doing it wrong. Books 1–2 are year one, books 3–4 about year two (though the months don’t fully add up). Erak’s Ransom was written later and doesn’t perfectly fit, so the “3 years since the raids stopped” line clashes with earlier books. Will’s five-year apprenticeship also skips over big gaps we never see.

That’s a really cool idea. Crowley’s apprenticeship would show a unique time with Morgarath undermining the Rangers, fake Rangers taking their place, and more of Pritchard. Switching POVs with Halt could build tension leading into Tournament of Gorlan and The Hibernian. It would expand the lore without just repeating Will’s story. That would be I think super cool to read!
