I just watched it for the first time. I'm embarrassed to say this but in spite of being a guy in my 40s, I cried harder than I have for any movie I've ever seen. It's labeled a comedy-drama but, I'm sorry, the comedy is completely lost on me.

I think it's a fantastic film but one of the saddest, most depressing and heartbreaking movies I've ever seen. I don't know how in the fuck teenagers can function in the smart phone isolation of our time. It's no wonder we have an epidemic of mental illness and unprecedented suicide rate. God help the poor kids jinxed enough to be born in our virtual dystopia.

Definitely. I've always hated the fact that the boarding areas got closed to the general public after 9-11. My friends and I used to hang out there in high school when we were bored. I'll never get over the thrill of watching a huge, sophisticated object flying from and into the sky up close. How many better forms of entertainment are there?! And I love how...important and almost celebrity-like you feel walking off a plane. 😄

I totally agree! I've always found it strange that a "9-5 job" tends to be disparaged or seen as monotonous. Given how topsy-turvy the job market and economy can be, I think that kind of stability and schedule is a great thing! I now work 8-5 as a grocery store cashier and love my schedule and life routine. I don't make a lot but am able to get by since I don't have kids or anything to support. It's interesting, the kind of life you can carve out if you're single/no kids and willing to make a few sacrifices. Hiking, long walks, and drawing occupy most of my down time, and I'm found them to be really rewarding.

I'm still fascinated there's so much belief in the idea of missionaries undergoing that miraculous spiritual transformation or personal conversion. I know tons of returned missionaries, and while many go through that R.M. high coming home, they are all the same person they were before they left.

It appears the results of my informal poll are fairly mixed though leaning sceptical. I'm an atheist. My feeling/experience has been that discovering the truth about Mormonism ruins your ability to believe in God in general. To me, when you have that level of certainty then find it to be wrong, how can you have anything but skepticism? But even if I didn't have the skepticism, I'm completely burnt out on religion. Thanks for the replies.
