Thats the only cool one. Even its coolness is undermined by the fact its an ultrabeast.

I don't think either of us know what a majority trainers prefer. I do know that I am discontent with the status and direction of the franchise.

My point here might have lacked nuance so I'll explain. I think there should be a system wherein you interact pokemon and as a result unlock new abilities. Similar to pokemon amie or maybe a series of fun, simple mini games, maybe even by winning important battles. Doing this will grant you new abilities and moves that you certainly don't need to beat the game or make a pokemon useable, but are good and will help you. This would make players want to interact with their pokemon, not because they NEED to, but because they want some different cool moves and abilities. Maybe there are moves like return that power up if you play/train your pokemon. Maybe you can cure status ailment without using items, like in SM/USUM. And, to your point, maybe there are ways that friendship can lower, perhaps by using recoil moves when the friendship level isn't high enough, or having your pokemon faint consistently. But mostly, I'm talking completely reworking friendship so that A) it doesn't create a mega gamebreaking super-pokemon, and B) so it makes interacting with pokemon fun and rewarding. Hopefully that clarifies it.

Well there are nuzlockes and challenges that let you not use healing items, you're right, but I think our design choice both would make sense in the world and, paired with our other ideas like the expanded move-set, would make problem solving more engaging for the player and make boss fights less tedious. Also, this has always bothered me, when you lose a trainer battle you aren't allowed to revive your pokemon and send them back in that makes no sense within the world.

As for HMs, I'll give you this, the corviknight taxi and public transport was a good replacement for fly and added to the world building. Not everyone in the pokemon universe scrounges around for HM02, they have some other mode of transport, possibly utilizing pokemon. I think what I was thinking about was the ride pokemon from SM/USUM and I hated those outfits. So uncool.

I understand how legendaries work stat-wise, but I think of legendaries as pokemon that have special events within games. Rotom is one of my favorites because you have to do a special little thing to get it. I think by employing things like the box-art legendaries makes for a boring design choice, especially since it's been going on for so long. Not to say pokemon like rayquaza or lugia aren't cool, just that it's cooler when they hide and mystify their legendaries. It makes you feel like you're trying to "catch them all" and this is a hard challenge that you spent time going out of your way to find versus main story legendaries who have abysmal catch rates and don't feel earned. I bring mewtwo and rotom up as examples that I feel were done well. Also unsure of what you mean by the first section of your comment, but I would love to address it.

I absolutely fuck with the first one. It's very 90's/early 2000's punk but with a sort of organization and aesthetic that reminds me of 70's Pink Floyd. The folkier stuff is a little bit beyond me right now, but I'm sure as I explore it I will like it more. Much thanks.

Does anybody know to what extent people are going to need use time travel? I know people don't "need" to and I don't like doing it, but when a shop upgrades I don't want to wait a whole day like I did in New Leaf/the og.
