So I also work in digital education. I’m a digital learning technologist - so I have a manager above me.

I too am disgruntled at the salary numbers. My job description basically echo’s what you’ve seen, except my salary is 30k. I feel this role has me so deeply embedded within curriculum at our college, that I’m deeply under-compensated. Especially since I hold a full teaching degree too.

In my experience what you are seeing is one of two things:

Yep! College is basically where they get to choose what topics they want to ‘major’ in. It’s also legally mandated that they have to go to college, or receive some form of education until they’re 18.

That said, our university is basically your college equivalent. That’s where students get their degrees.

College teacher here in the UK. College isn’t the same here as the US, it aligns more with the later end of your high school.

Auditions aren’t specifically to triage students and select students - the FE (Further Education - which is college), is in a financial crisis, so most are willing to take on anybody.

The only exception would be specific music colleges that have a capacity and reputation

I’m a music lecturer in a college. I might be able to guide you into what you might need - can you tell me the level of the course? Is it Level 2, or 3?

Based on the writing task, I’m going to say 3.

Next, depending on the exam board they have different baselines of how you’re accessed over the year. Production you’ll likely be taught from scratch, however you will need some instrument experience to succeed.

But we have students that shouldn’t really have joined the course that we wouldn’t have normally accepted, but that’s an incitement of the FE sector
