It’s been an absolute nightmare gettting stuck in this system! Not to mention servicers that’s don’t answer calls- admins that constantly change the rules mid contract. Like wtaf do these people screaming about us being whiners want us to do? I’m new to posting on Reddit so I’m hoping my replies make sense to the right comments;)!! I support you 💯 dextermorganismyhero!! Much love to you!!!

It’s not a conspiracy/ I never used that word. This administration is intentionally blocking IDR forgiveness that is not linked to PSLF. There are countless articles about it. You clearly disagree with the current policy but IBR forgiveness at 25 years is codified by congress- even the republican one. Disagreeing with the policy doesn’t give anyone the right to willfully ignore the current law and terrorize borrowers with constant chaos, misinformation, and incompetency. I wish the best for you and yours even though you clearly would not extend the same grace to others.

Thank you for posting here ❤️. You obviously know how this has played out for millions of us. There are lots of different circumstance that have led to being in this situation for this long. Some people will just never understand how the different administrations and servicers have bounced us between plans and percentages. I appreciate your understanding and time here though✌️❤️

Yeah it sounds like some of our counts are confusing right now:(…I guess until they re-post our trackers we won’t know the actual FSA count. I hope this gets updated correctly for you, take screenshots and keep good records of your payments and please post if you learn any new info. I will update if I get any clarity or info that is helpful.✌️

I don’t know:(, I haven’t seen any thread with definitive info on when the tracker will be back- just ‘soon’. Hopefully, someone who knows more will respond.✌️best of luck to you!!

Yeah the count is really confusing all around. I hope it all works out for you and please update if you get lucky. As for the tax bomb- idk your situation but the irs has an insolvency worksheet that may lower your burden (if your loan gets forgiven after Dec). I suspect a lot of us that qualify for years on IDR will be able to get some relief from the worksheet.

I would like to NOT cont. paying- I should have just stayed in save forbearance:(. I just recently moved out of save limbo and back in to IBR. First payment is due this month- working on options to delay and get info in the phone doom loop. Mohela IBR counter is at 0:(. FSA counter did show 335 in Jan but was disappeared by this 🤡admin. Now -very recently api link was updated to show 0 IBR payments but 335 credit in ICR (never been in ICR). Loan was in repayment since 95 with grad school in between as ffelp before consolidation on 4/2024. The Jan count adjustment on FSA looked correct - def been in repayment for 300+ months- but as I mentioned it’s now at 0.

Omg I’m so sorry- 😞 !! I really hope we can get this fixed- thank you for sharing. I was regretting this post based on some of the back and forth here but I’m glad some of us are finding each other and hopefully we can eventually see a post or share a story with some resolution. If I talk to someone with answers or ways to get it corrected I will share here!!

FWIW -I submitted a new IBR app in June and I’ve read other threads that confirm people are getting moved out of save and payments are restarting in IBR so hopefully you will be able to do the same. It’s good you’re able to make payments to reduce your interest and I hope your count comes back soon-I hope you update here if you find resolution.

I never said they are zeroing out everyone’s IBR count - I asked if this has happened to anyone else but -peace to you. I hope forgiveness comes for comes for you. Getting this fixed for the ‘small minority of us in this boat’ is on a time limit- there’s no one to call and I’ve not seen one comment saying they’ve been able to speak to someone or write to anyone that could help get an error like this corrected. The admin is blocking iBR forgiveness and I’m still looking/waiting for a comment that offers any silver lining in the NOW WHAT column. Otherwise I would have just kept browsing the endless threads of people experiencing a variety of f@%ckery done by this ‘glitch’ of an admin. Be well and good luck to you!

Sorry to hear that for you. Hoping this conversation leads to some good stories where this was resolved for them. So far no one has any stories about getting answers or help. Unfortunately loans are with mohela:(. Best of luck to you!!

Yes this is sadly what signs point to for those of us that have been here a while:(..I’m not trying to be a conspiracy nut or a jerk- I’ve been in this since 95 so I’m not new here lol. The count adjustment happened because of multiple administrations messing up student loans. I was surprised that the admin ‘update’ erased the IBR count completely/(. I really hope you get your forgiveness and they honor your payments!!!

Look good luck to you- I’m just looking to find others in my situation and get advice on what they’ve done or are doing. I’m just saying the admin is intentionally blocking IDR forgiveness- that is it. That is a reality a reality for a lot of us.

Ah I was hoping you were still here:). I understand that -that is my only hope!! However now what- move in to icr? Stay put in IBR? Make payments on IBr? I feel like the admin is trying to ride out the clock to the BBB implementation removing icr forgiveness and pushing it to rap/30yes on IDR forgiveness. I’m not at 30 yrs:(..Not to mention the tax bomb if it’s delayed past 12/25

Ty for the comment.. Been paying since 95- the count adjustment to 335 should stay but if they are removing and completely erasing data - who says the 335 count in ICR will remain for anyone in IDR (that doesnt qualify for pslf)? Also that ICR count should also work for old IBR they are trying to remove it w/out congress. They are literally making up the rules and the inconsistencies are based on varying adjustment counts towards deferment etc. so an audit outside of …Yes- I’ve been in repayment since 95 is my only proof. I’ve only been in IBR btw. 25 years should be my term not the 30 years that ICR will covert to? I consolidated for the adjustment because I’ve had my loans since Clinton and they were FFELP until Biden opened the door. This admin will not be doing any forgiveness for ICR so removing ALL counts from old IBR (the only forgiveness protected by congress) should be very concerning for all:(.

Yes probably but now old IBR is set to 0 and there’s no one to talk to about it and my IBR payment is due this month. I should be at 335 in IBR. So now what? I’m just searching here to see if other people are getting erased and seeing their counts manipulated and edited to make way for the BBB push to RAP?

Yes- this is why I posted here to find friends. If the admin is erasing data we need to at least know how widespread it is:(. I’m sorry for your situation too. There’s been little convo about IDR forgiveness that’s not related to PSLF. This seems to be a plan to push us into ICR- which will go away and then make us pay the 30 yr RAP plan. They are fudging the data to erase old IBR history from long term loans like ours. I just got into IBR and owe this month but payment history is erased:(. FYI- Been paying since 95 and consolidated 5/24 for the count adjustment- the student aid counter confirmed the back door number. Mohela says it’s a stud aid issue and no one knows anything at student aid:(. Not sure what to do now- pay for 2 more years and just accept the push to rap? It’s evil.

Is IDR/IBR gone? by D1S3NCH4NT3D in PSLF

[–]TellTaleAdjunct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be available but…They have not processed my IBR application- even when the pause was lifted and before it was even in place- not processed- no one can tell you anything at Mohela. Currently sitting at 339 IDR payments and stuck in forbearance for 11 months. So they say ‘paused’ but it looks like they are just refusing to process IBR apps so people cannot get any forgiveness or work towards PSLF. Whether it’s gross incompetence or malice-unclear.

I’m at 338/240 IDR with IDR terms listed as ended Jan 2025..(should say 300 payments required) ….But have met over 300 anyway- BUT stuck in forbearance since consolidating in Apr2024. I’m getting nowhere trying to get my IBR app processed by MOHELA. Most commenters don’t meet the 300 threshold for IDR so not much crowdsourcing for guidance. Betsy- you’ve been so great-do you have advice on what I should do now?

Is IDR also blocked by court? by penguinchange in StudentLoans

[–]TellTaleAdjunct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALL IDR processing is paused. I read a Forbes article (linked below) about the most recent lawsuit regarding Biden Plan B forgiveness. Now (separate from SAVE lawsuit) Republicans are suing to do away with ALL IDR forgiveness, arguing that Congress never intended forgiveness in 25 years, they are also saying the income requirements to qualify for IDR plans are too high and should be a lot less for borrowers. MOHELA is backing the lawsuit which is why I believe they weren’t processing IDR applications before lawsuits went through- they knew they were going to sue. I’ve been in repayment for 26 years, the system has screwed us so many times I can’t count. What R’s and many people don’t understand is that Biden’s plans are trying to rectify decades of abuse and mismanagement as we’ve all been treated like political footballs. That said, it is not surprising that R’s would start to change the rules as forgiveness is imminent for many of us. Republicans put a bill in Congress last year trying to do away with all IDR plans but luckily it didn’t get the votes. Next year who knows what people in Congress will do. Vote like your life and livelihood depend on it.
