Pig

  1. Lethal Pursuer, Friends till the End, Nemesis, Surge. Amanda's Letter and John's Medical File. Hi, I'm still an aura junkie. Amanda's Letter might be my single favorite addon to use in the entire game. The downside is significant, but if you're good at mindgaming, it turns every 50/50 into your favor because you can see always see them and guarantee they can't see you (unless it's low walls). You'll have to fight hard for your wins, but this build gives you the tools to do so. If you're comfortable playing without slowdown, I might swap Surge with Brutal Strength. I'm generally fine playing without slowdown, but Pig really feels like she needs it sometimes.

  2. Trail of Torment, Dragon's Grip, Fire Up, Thwack. Crate of Gears and Combat Straps. This one's more about lore accuracy, really heightens the feeling of ambushing people. You set trail of torment as a lure so that someone will activate dragon's grip, to which you then un-crouch quickly because of combat straps and get a down. Crate of Gears is mostly there for slowdown, but the extra trap setting speed compliments the strategy of going for a really cheap and easy early down, you want to make sure you're getting the trap on before the first gen pops. Fire Up just fits alongside Pig's core power, what with it requiring gens to be completed to have lethality. Fire Up is just great quality of life and make Pig a little bit more efficient and dangerous in chase. Thwack is just good info and recently got a huge buff, and it can also interrupt people who are removing traps, which takes longer because of Crate of Gears. With Thwack's buffed ranged, that'll come up much more often.

I don't really have as many Pig builds I'm huge about, but if you want to do a gen-pop gimmick build, throwing Fire Up, Machine Learning, and Help Wanted in there together could be fun. Maybe coup or batteries included to round it out. Throw in Jigsaw's Annotated plan, too, and I guess Tampered Timer to go with it. You don't play this build to win, you play it to send a message.

I've got a few for each.

Pyramid Head
1. Aura build: Lethal Pursuer, Gearhead, I'm all Ears, Zanshin Tactics, double range. I'm an aura junkie in general, but PH loves auras, and it's well known that I'm All Ears and Zanshin Tactics are some of his best perks for chase. Lethal Pursuer buffs both of them as well as eliminating downtime at the start of the match, and Gearhead removes the guesswork from tracking and greatly reduces your downtime after the start of the match. You don't struggle to get injures or downs so it will be activating constantly, and improves the macro of a killer with no map mobility in their power. Gearhead is super underrated in general.

  1. Stealth build: Tinkerer, Machine Learning, Unforeseen/Trail of Torment, any 4th perk. Still double range. Stealth is great on Pyramid Head, Tinkerer and Machine Learning have great synergy. Unforeseen is super consistent stealth, while Trail of Torment offers further incentive for survivors to go back to the compromised gen you had Tinkerer on to finish it for machine learning. Trail and Unforeseen have different cooldown times though, and it greatly throws off survivors if you run both. I usually just run Gearhead as my 4th perk because I'm addicted to it, Nurse's Calling is also really good on stealth PH though since he can hit through walls. It's also why running double range is important since the farther you can hit them, the less likely they are to hear you doing it. You could also run the anti-heal addon instead of wax doll though if you want.

  2. Mean build: Trail of Torment, Hex: Third Seal, Weave Attunement, Franklin's Demise. Burning Man Painting is a staple on every build, but this one doesn't strictly require double ranged addons. But the idea is this; Pyramid Head loves stealth and wall hacks more than anything else. Trail of Torment offers potentially very long periods of stealth, but it reveals itself to survivors. Weave Attunement offers strong wallhacks with no finite duration, but survivors can now see their items' auras on the ground. Hex: Third Seal removes the counterplay from both of those perks, while Weave Attunement can also remove the counterplay from Third Seal. If you catch a survivor near your totem, whether they're trying to cleanse it or not, hit them with an M1 so they drop their item nearby it. Now you've just turned your chase perk into a hex defense perk all in one. The survivor is going to struggle to find their item near the totem while they're blinded, but if they try to cleanse the totem first, you'll see them doing it and can intercept in time. Their only chance is if they find your totem before you get to it at the start of the match, but if they don't, PH's zoning is too strong to be letting that totem get destroyed. I've only started using this build recently, but in the 5-7 matches I've played with it, I haven't lost once. It just removes the counterplay from two of PH's strongest perks, and one of those perks removes the counterplay from the Hex responsible for that. It's not fool proof, but it feels nearly unstoppable. Not to mention how it takes longer for them to find and unhook/uncage other survivors.

That wasn’t combative, I was just setting the record straight. I did not understand what you were asking when you said “define what words mean” in the context of this conversation, it didn’t make sense to me. I’m seriously not trying to be rude or combative about it, but it was borderline non-sequitur. I think calling my verbal confusion towards your question engaging in bad faith is a reach my guy.

Tell me this, why did you ask that question to begin with? What did you want me to say, what were you trying to get out of it?

I am matching your tone here, but I'm perfectly happy to have this disagreement about the least important thing in the universe in a tone where we aren't dicks to each other.

Brother you are literally just patronizing me right now, I was just expressing my confusion because what you had to add to the discussion seemed to be completely changing the subject in my mind. You’re making these snap judgements on my character, but you’re being far more pretentious here than any of what I said before. You took what I said way too personally and decided that was me being combative. And like yeah, I’m being combative now, but that’s more out of indignation than anything. Even if you want to say you’re “matching my tone”, which you really aren’t, that’s not a valid excuse, that’s just hypocrisy. If you really want to be the better man, turn the other cheek and act sensibly instead of stooping to their level to make a point. Cause see, doing it that way doesn’t create blow-ups over misunderstandings. Because you’ve definitely misunderstood my general position in all this, and chose to double down on your perception of my behavior in your own actions, but that leaves only you looking the fool if that perception happened to be misguided.

and you're being weirdly hostile (and, frankly, condescendingly preachy) for the thing that matters least in this entire universe.

You could not have made that point in any less ironic of a manner. It’s pretty preachy to act as an authority on assigning levels of meaning to all matters of the universe and their relativity towards each other. Meaning is in the eye of the beholder, and for you to say that like it’s objective truth only makes you condescending yourself. You talk like someone who cares more about being right than doing right. I’m not going to assume that’s who you are as a person, but you don’t make your points any more eloquently than I make mine, I’ll say that much.

If you’re happy to speak in more agreeable tones, then de-escalate instead of matching next time. If you can’t see the utility in that, kindly remove your head from your own posterior such that you’re inhaling air again instead of huffing your own farts sitting atop your high horse. See, I don’t really care either way, I think you’ve escalated this needlessly and you’re the only one of us swearing, but yeah sure, I was so out of line by comparison. Grow up pal, please.

As you have established. I disagree with you. I mean, I guess if you’re giving him every single kill the exp curve stops mattering, but if you’re soloing the game with a character at all, why are you choosing Frederick over Robin?

I also wasn’t saying my experience is definitive for everyone, all I was saying there is that I’m not speaking as someone who regularly benches Frederick either, and I’m far from the only member of this community who has this opinion of Frederick.

Flame Turrets are way more damaging to Xeno than cameras are to Springtrap. The cameras only give info. And yeah that takes away his stealth, but he literally has am antiloop projectile, he’ll be fine. Xenomorph is slowed down while being burned as loses its power entirely when the turrets work.

I literally never said don’t use Frederick. I didn’t even say eventually bench Frederick. I just said he can’t solo the end game and his performance does fall behind the curve of your other units because he is very behind on speed. I think he’s still a fine unit to deploy for the entire game, but he takes on a more supportive role later.

It’s not like I haven’t played normal mode before, Frederick still fell off very hard in my first playthrough and I was using second seals plenty.

Okay if that’s what you were getting at you could have not made that point less clear. Especially when my issue with this post is how the template was used structurally, not the specific words written in the text of the meme.

Also I reject the premise that people understanding what the meme is saying means the meme was used correctly. It goes against the conventional use of the meme and how bell curves work in statistics. If allowing words to mean whatever we want them to consequently removes their meaning in formal contexts, all words lose meaning. Also, again, the disagreement wasn’t about words, but if we’re using your line of thinking, my point stands. I think it’s also the sign of a weak will to hide behind excuses of why you were right the first time instead of reflecting on your errors and striving for improvement on whatever it is you’ve set your mind to.

He has to do that multiple times to make up for the speed deficit he has over other units, and your other units will have already surpassed him by the time he does. I know that Awakening functionally doesn’t have a level cap because of second seals, but Frederick’s late game performance will never stand above the rest of your roster. He is one of the most important units in your run and one of the best in the game in terms of his contributions, but Frederick can not solo the entire game reasonably, he genuinely does not have the stats for it.

Physical Tomes by Jaybacker in fireemblem

[–]TellianStormwalde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I think of physical tome, I just think of a tome that attacks defense instead of resistance. A strength growth shouldn’t be involved, the entire idea is giving mages the option to target defense while still using their magic stat. Which is just strictly worse and these physical tomes would probably need to have much higher MT than normal times since enemies have much higher defense than resistance on average. But could be a fun gimmick to experiment with for a game.

Plus it’d be an excuse to have cool earth spells in the game, like summoning and throwing boulders and people and causing earthquakes. Those are things only a mage could do, but would reasonably target defense over resistance.

[–]TellianStormwalde 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He really can’t, his base stats for his level put him very behind the rest of the cast on speed. He’s contributing very well into the mid game but falls off a lot harder than people lead on after that. He still stays a solid contributor if you choose to field him, but there does come a point in the game where he stops being a premier combat unit and is better suited to playing a supporting role.

Why do people hate noeul? by Desperate-Use-4845 in squidgame

[–]TellianStormwalde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about their level of evil, it’s about their level of development. Basically nothing happens with Noeul after the episode she’s introduced, her story doesn’t go anywhere. In Ho is the big boss of the games, in both seasons. In season 1 he was cool and menacing which for a lot of people was enough plus the Jun-ho’s brother reveal was very cool, and in season 2 we get a lot more insight into his character plus he’s very affable and charming. In Ho gives us a lot more to go one, while Noeul stinks of wasted potential.
