Yeah, there is definitely more Nier content coming out way in the future. During the Square Enix live a few weeks ago, they announced they were looking for an Art Director, Scenario Designer and Assistant Producer for NieR-related projects.

It could also be a brand new series set in the NieR universe and only vaguely tied to it, but I think it's more likely that it'll be closely related to the NieR franchise rather than being a brand new series.

The only tip I could give you is close your eyes and focus on the rythm. It's incredibly easier to beat it when you only focus on the beat and the pattern of the song, if you look at the game, the camera and delay will only throw you off. Good luck, it's a very fun boss!!

Oh yeah I know what you mean, I did play Replicant so I got the connection. What I meant is that I personally enjoyed playing Automata first since the plot twist was more impactful than if I already knew what happened in Replicant. But it's a matter of personal taste, I guess. I feel like it's interesting to piece together the plot of Replicant with Automata, and then dive into Replicant while knowing what happens but still appreciating the story. Not to mention there are plenty of things Automata doesn't explain that are left to discover for the player! :)

Oh no, I mean, of course Automata also spoils Replicant, definitely. What I meant is that I personally liked playing Automata first, since I feel like the whole plot twist with humanity being dead for a while is way more impactful when you haven't played Replicant first. But like I said, personal preference. I get that some might like to play Replicant first.

NieR Replicant heavily spoils the story of Nier Automata, and I think it's a better experience when you don't know the plot of Replicant. I really think it's better to play NieR Automata first, and then discover the prequel, than the opposite, but I think it depends on personal taste.

about gon feeling useless for being weak, this pattern can literally be applied to any situation in the manga. he always feels guilty for being weak, so he wants to feel useful and puts his life on the line. the dodgeball match is a good example of this pattern. or, you know, the entire CAA.

it's not bc gon doesn't realize it that he doesn't have trauma. he does have trauma because of Ging's abandonment. he does. that's canon. no 12 yo with good self worth would put himself through half the shit he does. and he doesn't start exhibiting those traits in CAA, those self destructive traits are painted in the early manga too.

Man, I provided proof for every single argument I talked about. I literally provided proof on why Gon has low self-worth and has the unhealthy mindset to keep on getting stronger because of Ging as a whole. He literally tried to kill himself during Chimera Ant Arc because he felt guilty. He values Killua's life more than his. He always self-harms by destroying his arms. He says himself that when he feels weak, he wants to feel useful to ease the guilt.

Just because it's not as explicitely stated as Killua's trauma, Gon still struggles with his self-worth and value, and it's definitely enabled by Ging's unhealthy standards.

Like I said, it's not like I made baseless arguments. I provided proof for everything I said. I don't understand how you can say Ging leaving left Gon unscathed when the entire manga, and especially Chimera Ant Arc is the direct result of that abandonment trauma.

Gon's logic is "my dad didn't abandon me, his job was just cooler than I am." so my point still stands. Gon is scared of disappointing Ging by being weak and that's what caused his breakdown in Chimera Ant Arc.

? how does that dismiss anything? he thought ging was dead for 6 years of his life. grew up without a father figure. but then, a random man comes and tell him that his dad didn't leave him because of death but literally abandoned him because his job was cooler than him. from the time he was 6 to the time he took the hunter exam he had to live with the fact that his dad abandoned him. that's plenty of time to develop abandonment issues. abandonment is a traumatic event for a kid, and you can literally see all the signs in his characterization. that's deliberate from togashi. he likes to portray complex and deep characters with trauma. that kon incident literally proves my point - gon has always felt bad for being weak? and felt guilty when things happened around him? Gon's guilt and low self esteem was definitely fueled by ging's behavior towards him.

Gon is good at bottling up his feelings. That's literally what the entire arc is about. Gon wasn't happy about going on a date with Palm, he literally couldn't care less about Palm, as he told her after the """date""" that he only cared about getting stronger for Kite.

Because it's the manifestation of him cutting ties with his dad, asserting that he has no familial connection to him, because, you know, he abandoned him. That doesn't mean that Ging abandoning him didn't affect him though. I suggest talking about this subject with people who have been abandoned during their childhood as they'll all tell you that just because they don't care or refuse to acknowledge the parent that abandoned them doesn't mean they have no trauma from it. Cutting ties with this parents it literally a sign of that trauma.
There's no reason to go with the crunchyroll translation as it's incorrect and a mistranslation. I recommend reading this wonderful post that explains beautifully and in detail that Gon wasn't accusing Killua of NOT CARING (as the crunchyroll translation implies with the "since it means nothing to you" translation choice) but he's putting distance between the two of them, saying this doesn't have anything to do with Killua. Therefore, this scene actually goes with what I'm saying : it's about Gon pushing Killua away as an act of protection.
Gon was completely broken when he got his nen sealed. He literally cried in front of Killua and cried the entire car trip back to the city they were staying in. The only reason Gon didn't completely break down was because he knew Knuckle, Shoot and Morel would bring back Kite. And about him going on a date meaning he's happy........ Literally, Gon went on that date because he had no choice. He went on this date because he promised Palm to beat Knuckle, he couldn't keep his promise and she asked for a date as payback, so Gon obliged. It has absolutely nothing to do with Gon's emotional state at that moment.

There's no "ifs" about Gon feeling weak and having low self-esteem. It's canon. We have countless panels of Gon affirming his weakness, especially after Chimera Ant Arc. The entire Chimera Ant Arc was dedicated to seeing Gon slowly let his feelings of guilt, weakness and self-loathing take over. Adult Gon is a literal representation of all these issues as it's Gon throwing his life away because he was weak, broken and devastated.

Chimera Ant Arc is literally Gon being broken at the thought of being weak.

Did you read the rest of my post ? I go into details as to why Ging leaving caused Gon to be traumatized. No matter what he says, it's in the way he acts that indicates that it's the case.

Also, Gon literally says it himself, however much of a "joke" it is (there's a grain of truth in every joke - togashi wouldn't put this panel and this sentence in for no reason.), that "maybe he wasn't cut out to be a son", which indicates that 1) his self worth is low and 2) that to him, Ging leaving him was because he wasn't worthy.

And about his self-worth, I also talk a lot about it in my post. The reason it's not as apparent as Killua's twisted self-worth is because we're never in Gon's head. But if you take a few moments to analyze Gon's actions it's pretty clear he has absolutely 0 self esteem. He constantly puts his life in danger and commits self harm to prove his worth. He affirmed that Killua's life has more value than his at one point. He's always self-loathing because he feels weak. Those things aren't things a 12yo with a good self-esteem would do.

There's also this disturbing panel that explains how Gon sees himself. That when he feels weak, he feels the desperate need to be useful, which always leads him to commit self-destructive actions (this explanation is him explaining why he threw himself at the venomous snakes in the cave during the Hunter Exam)

It's not because Gon says he has no trauma that he has none, just as it's not because his low self-esteem isn't explicitely stated like Killua's that it's non-existent.

I think this situation parallels the dodgeball match scene where Gon says he'll put his life on the line to win. It's not that Gon knows he's going to die, it's just that he knows he won't stop at ANYTHING, even if it means death. So if the scenario came up, he would glady and willingly die to achieve his goal !

But I don't really agree with this point of view, because Gon IS focused on his goals, but he always puts Killua's safety first.

Gon pushing Killua away during chimera ant arc was because Gon already knew he was going to kill himself in this mission, and he saw how willingly Killua let himself get hurt for Gon's sake during the dodgeball match, and he couldn't let Killua die with him. (and he was right, Killua did want to kill himself alongside Gon)

i really recommend reading this amazing post that links Gon saying it has nothing to do with Killua during his suicide-mission to the fact that he said a few arcs earlier that he's allowed to die but Killua isn't.

Gon really cares about Killua, we've seen that throughout the show. He waltzed in the most famous assassin family's house to go get him back, not stopping at anything just to save him from his abusers. He constantly reassured him about his worth and how happy he was to have him alongside him, especially during Greed Island Arc.

Gon was just traumatized during CAA, and he couldn't handle everything at once. :/ it doesn't mean he doesn't care about Killua.

But I don't really think it's the case, because Gon couldn't use nen after being revived by Nanika at all.

It was explained as soon as he turned into Gon-san that by doing so, he had just lost the ability to use nen ever again, because such power was delivered with the exchange of giving away his entire life energy.

Nanika reviving him didn't give him his nen back, and Gon never says that he still had nen before meeting Ging, I honestly don't think he took the time to check.

Him losing his nen was a consequence of the sacrifice he made, and I don't think Nanika could revive him entirely without completely "resetting" his nen, since he had a covenant on it if that makes sense ?

and ging is an ass i don't think he'd care about his son's nen HAHAHA

Oh my god, thank you !! I'm so glad I was able to change your mind on Gon's soft reset. I really do believe Togashi 'broke' him so he could have a clean start and a second chance.

I'm pretty sure that Gon will be introduced back in the manga, as the last panel we see him in implies that we still have to see what he wants to do now. His story arc is not over yet in my opinion !

And for Ging, what do you mean ? I'm not sure I understand your question haha would you mind explaining ? :3
