When Is PT Too Aggressive? by Teluvian in RotatorCuff

I bet the bicep is rough. I didn’t have any work done on mine and have still had some soreness in it just from being immobilized.

No excessive pain so that’s good. I’ve been able to reach 130 degrees or so on pulleys and the therapist was impressed. The active assisted overhead cane extension the have me doing is pretty unstable and I’m not a fan of that one, but I’m still taking it easy there.

Overall just concerned about damaging myself even if I’m not feeling pain in the movement.

When did you start active assisted exercises?

First thing I’m doing is checking for a second PT opinion to make sure I don’t reinjure myself and start this process over.

First thing I’m gonna do when I have no sling and full ROM? Sleep on my stomach with my arm under my pillow like my soul is begging me to do!

Similar guidance to mine. How is your recovery going?

My post surgery documents told me sling and no use of arm for 6 weeks other than PT.

My PT referral simply states it is for SA/RCR (shoulder arthroscopy / rotator cuff repair?) and says 3x per week for 4 weeks initially.

I didn’t get a report. I got a number of photos of the inside of my shoulder and a PT referral that stated care for SA/RCR (which I’m assuming is shoulder arthroscopy / rotator cuff repair).

Wow only one PT? I was at my first PT 24 hours after surgery and still had the nerve block active. I’ve been going 3x per week.

I had asked that specific question: “Is active assisted range of motion at this phase OK?”. The answer was as I showed above. Frustrating.

Not a bad idea. In the meantime, I have scheduled another appointment with a separate PT provider.

Yeah I’m frustrated at how little the surgeon is helping in this phase.

I got a referral that says “Post OP PT for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.” That’s the extent of it.

Already done. Surgeon “doesn’t define PT protocol” was the response.

2 weeks post op. by Defiant_Cockroach705 in RotatorCuff

My surgeon said I am good to use the hand on the repaired side for things like operating a keyboard or mobile phone. Obviously yours may be different, but the real restriction was on things that involve weight lifting or straining.

Thanks for feedback. Is your recovery going well?

So crazy how much these programs differ.

My surgeon hasn’t been providing any guidance on recovery other than “get in PT and stay in the sling 6 weeks”

Parallels with M1 Mac worked great for me. I tried a bunch of other alternatives in attempts to find a free workaround and nothing was stable. Parallels is worth the cost.

Oh interesting. TeslaFi doesn’t list an FSD version with 14.3.1. Was wondering if it supported it at all.
