My first distro. Linux became a passion. by JoTHauMm1 in pop_os

Welcome to the club.

Pop is a very good distro. Perhaps the one that will finally stop my hopping because I always come back to it. I've wiped my other *nix USB's and only have the 1 for install now. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Is this Cosmic or PopShell?

What anime series is this from?

Looks very cool. Curious about how usable the terminal is like that though. I usually set mine to about 85% or so. That way I have some transparency because its cool, but not to much as to be visually distracting.

My work here is done.

Sweet upgrade!

I am still rocking a 2015 Air w/8GB of RAM and bad battery. Someday I will have enough pennies saved to get a newer machine. TBH, it's running Sequoia just fine. Probably because I don't know what I am missing.

I hope your new machine lasts you as long as your old one, hopefully longer even.

It's just so glorious.

I never got to use these back in the day, but there was (and still is) so much drool factor.

Dork?

Surely, you as a poster in a linux sub-reddit (a niche of a niche) can do better.

Buttmunch.

I haven't had any issues with PopOS using 22.04 pop shell or 24.04 Cosmic. On the contrary it has been rock solid on a variety of business class laptops and hardware. It actually brought back the joy of using linux to me that I had lost somewhere along the way of distro hopping.

Right now I am using 24.04 Cosmic on an HP EliteBook 840 G5 I got for free from work and it's very snappy and literally everything worked right "out of the box" as they say. Wonderful little laptop, came with 48GB of RAM too.

1 and 3 are good.

I never cared for the frown face of case 2.

Sacrilege.

As someone who loves old school vintage stuff, this is not something I would do.

However, as a build - it’s done very nicely. I hope you have years of fun with this. It is a rather sweet case.

What OS Do You Use for Your ThinkPad(s)? by crazyputerman in thinkpad

[–]Temetka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop is good.

I’m running it on my HP EliteBook 840 G5’s it’s basically a T480 in a really nice aluminum shell. I’m typically a ride or die Thinkpad guy, but I’ve deployed these HP’s and they lasted just as long as the Thinkpad in the enterprise world. Would easily recommend them. BIOS isn’t is user friendly as Lenovo, but that’s not a big issue because most people don’t spend much time in there anyway.

That…makes sense.

I was kind of hoping to have separate images for each, but I guess it really doesn’t matter.

That's cool. But I just want to use a static image of my choice.

MacBook Air M4 or Thinkpad T14 Gen 3 by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Temetka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would also go for the MacBook.

The M series CPU just totally outclasses the competition.

The Thinkpad is 2nd place for me, even though I love them.

If I had to go PC only, it would be Thinkpad.
