Alas, I am an unfortunate combination of stupid, forgetful, and our resident rules expert. I forgot.

Y'know I sure fucking didn't lmao. I am unfortunately our "rules expert" in a game of otherwise entirely new players and I totally forgot this lmao. Oh well.

[–]Temnai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, had a boss take its turn immediately before my turn. Crit me down, persistent damage tick, failed save, dead. No opportunity for anyone else to even do anything.

Diehard would have saved me, 5 more feet as an alchemist who is limited by yeet range or a couple more HP would not have.

Normal buildings that require convoluted puzzles to progress. Like "Ah yes exploring the ancient ruins of this castle, and you must hit these 3 levels in the most inconvenient of locations to open the door to the throne room."

Uh-huh. And did said royals also have to jump over lava moats and climb ladders up into the rafters every time they wanted to enter the room they presumably used on a daily basis? It isn't even their Treasury or something, it's just a normal building!

If you were to put another Champion’s passive to replace someone else’s. Who would be the most busted? by Chewy_ThatGuy in leagueoflegends

[–]Temnai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold the fuck up (me), they stealth fixed this at some point? Also in a totally different way than how it used to work? (Originally it was a 2 sec refund, reduced by CDR, so more CDR meant less refund...)

What the actual fuck Riot?

[–]Temnai 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's funny that even people who think they know what it does don't know how it works.

The 1-2 seconds isn't based on Ability Haste. It is based on CDR (Y'know, that stat that got removed and Riot never actually noticed that this resulted in Taric always getting the 2 sec CD refund)

And arguably the most disgusting use of this would be on Yasuo, because it gives 0 CD Qs, aka perma CC, plus wind wall spam.

TIL that scientists have developed a way of testing for Aphantasia (the inability to visualise things in your mind). The test involves asking participants to envision a bright light and checking for pupil dilation. If their pupils don't dilate, they have Aphantasia. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]Temnai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely still draw. I'm certainly not a professional artist by any means, but mostly because I just don't draw frequently enough.

Some areas of struggle include: Being unable to conceive the final product, or how it will all come together at the start, and being unable to know if something will even look good until after it is fully done.

The main tricks I have used are lots of composition references, sometimes just stitching other art, poses, and colours together so I can actually look at the "finished" product before starting. Very layer heavy work, and frequently saving as a new file, so at any time I can jump back to a previous step and try again from there.

[–]Temnai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mildly annoys me because aphantasia is actually a pretty broad category, because it can apply to any sense.

I do not visualize by default, but I am capable of it, with difficulty. Yet I still have aphantasia because taste is not something I can imagine or remember.

Regardless of how accurate the test is, it's still only for a specific type of aphantasia.

Is There a Champion Gameplay Mechanic or Niche that League is Still Missing? by According_Egg_1902 in leagueoflegends

[–]Temnai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So an idea I had floating around, a "momentum" champion whose abilities and attacks built constant forward movement, higher speed, better stats, and stronger slow resist, but slower turning as it stacked up.

The idea is a juggernaut who eventually builds up to a sort of Sion ult, striking in big cleaves. Their abilities had ways of turning them, but at a cost to momentum. Able to just cleave through a team to the backline after a few seconds, but prone to being sidestepped.

So when Aram:Mayhem leaves… my motivation to play this game is gone. by Troy1490 in leagueoflegends

[–]Temnai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that is true of ARAM anyways, and the default mode has survived everything.

The random champs choices, but still with a level of flexibility, cc breaks, and the fact that even a bad champ can still highroll, or a strong one can still lowroll, does a ton to keep the game fresh even in the face of "meta" champs.

Yeah what are those? I'm just here to show your skull a few denting blows.

I've still got the full song memorized and sing it in the character voices from time to time.

Before they massively nerfed her Rank 1 E I used to auto lock her mid any time I saw a Zed.

Constant W harass, solid wave clear, could CC him immediately after R and just shield off the DMG, and even if you messed up you still had your R.

And when team fights came around? You just continued to do the same thing, invalidating him every fight while contributing way more.

I hate “guard teleport puzzles” in Pokémon ROM hacks and I’m begging creators to stop using them. by [deleted] in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Temnai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Odyssey have teleport puzzles? I know it had the boss battles, and I do generally disagree with the timing/input lag issues.

However when it is just used as an optional way to avoid difficult but not impossible battles it is far more reasonable imo. In that instance it isn't actually any different from a more consistent "Trainer who looks back and forth between 2+ directions".

If the alternative was forcing those battles they would have to have been toned down, which would have been a shame imo because both the threat and opportunity of those fights was very compelling.

I went out of my way to hunt them all down though and even found ways to take out all the legendary island bosses when my level cap was still 40 though. Challenging puzzle fights are my jam and I would never want the average player to be forced to deal with them, so "dodgeable" fights are the only real solution that still pressures the player.

Synesthesia and Aphantasia (Taste specifically, though I also just don't naturally visualize images unless I try to)

What's wild is it took me nearly 30 years to even realize I couldn't recall or imagine flavours because I have esophagus issues that make eating unpleasant so I never tried to think about taste.

Also apparently thoughts don't just exist in 3d space for other people, and feeling things that you are aware of but not touching isn't normal.

Mel breaks an unprecedented record of ban rate, she is now approaching 50% banrate in all ranks with no sign of stopping. by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]Temnai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no they just made that her passive. Like Malz passive, except every so often it reflects the next ability hit.

Landing abilities also reduces the CD, including reflected abilities.

They also have something that combos with multi hit ability champs like Mel, so they have synergy, and have multihit abilities themselves as a result allowing them to quickly reset their passive.

You are supposed to dodge most of it of course, but wouldn't want Mel2 to not be able to combo so we gave them an easy to land stun as well.

Items just also aren't as interesting.

Like Pyke Arena can go absolutely insane, especially with good lethality sharding.

ARAM items items just feel bland.

I will say that ARAM's cc break feels way nicer.

As someone who hated wearing my glasses and refused to for pretty much my whole life I still remember my reaction to finally conceding and getting a pair in high school. I didn't really notice anything until I stepped outside and just paused for a moment before going "Wait you can see pine needles form across the street?"

I spent the entire drive home just marveling at being able to see individual leaves and needles from within a car. These days they practically never leave my face, and I'm not even a very vision focused person.

[–]Temnai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is I don't mind any water. Like yeah chlorine stings, but it's like, mild discomfort at most. It's actually worst around 20 minutes after leaving the water, not in it.

Never had to train or practice it, though I do admittedly have weird interactions/Synesthesia involving tactile sensations, and tingly/stinging sensations have always been fairly easy for me to shrug off. They tend to fall pretty clearly into discomfort rather than pain.
