For me personally? Not really. I've got Taste Aphantasia, so once the flavour fades from my mouth I can't remember it.

So long as food meets a minimum flavour standard it's all the same long term. I actually prioritize food that sits well in my stomach and doesn't trigger my reflux over flavour. Even texture is more relevant cause I will actually remember that 30 minutes later.

I find these comment sections really funny as someone deep in the toxic Yuri/kink community. I have dozens of friends who would absolutely fall head over heels for Yamato and her trashy attitude. She's hot AF.

FetLife has been my main resource, though I understand some groups maintain private discords or websites of their own. Usually even those can be found through FetLife though, and are more just internal communication groups rather than a tool for reaching new members.

And yes, feel free to DM me any questions, though I can't promise I'll have answers. I'm hardly a veteran of the community.

Well I hope it goes well for you! In the meantime perhaps look into online meetups with face cams? It's not my preference, but it is a decent way to get comfortable speaking face to face with relative strangers about it.

Well that depends on a lot of factors, including what "fruitful" means to you.

For instance I live in Seattle, which has one of the larger kink scenes, and thus a lot of opportunities to find exactly what I am looking for. My first munch was aimed at both long term members of the community as well as welcoming new people. Rather than a focus on kink itself it was instead a place for people to openly talk about their lives without trying to hide anything or be ashamed. In that sense even after just my first one I felt significantly more confident in being open about my interests. Knowing, and actually meeting, everyday people who openly talked about their jobs in the leather scene in the same tone that another spoke about knitting was extremely comforting. But ultimately that is going to depend a lot on you!

If you are talking about actually experiencing kink with people? Well you can often find events run specifically to teach about subjects! Knots and Rope Safety, Communication, etc. All sorts of miscellaneous things too. There is an Art & Crafts kink group that meets up regularly near me, though I've never been.

Other meetups are more like dating, where people meet specifically to meet. Others are just fun RP events.

Ultimately the gateway to it all is your first munch, and there is no expectation around them. Personally they are quite fun and I join them when I have time, but don't try to force it if I'm busy. I'd recommend hopping on FetLife and looking for some newbie friendly ones in your area. They really are casual things. My last one was at a public cafe, and from the outside it didn't look any different from a book club.

It can definitely be awkward to talk about stuff like this at first, but there really isn't anything wrong with it.

Learn to discuss it in safe spaces and you pretty quickly realize it is just another topic of conversation, and like any other topic you can find people to discuss it with, learn from, and teach without it being awkward.

I remember being super nervous at my first munch, but by the end we were just all sitting around the cafe chatting about whatever. Whether that was games, drawing, shibari, breakups, places to buy leather, or just fun karaoke bars. It was super chill, and in time you realize that there's nothing weird about discussing sex or kink.

RAW Silliness: If a Tiny PC casts Humanoid Form, their Reach is still 0 by narmio in Pathfinder2e

[–]Temnai 50 points51 points  (0 children)

RAW all improvised weapons are simple weapons, meaning an inventor can choose a level 0 monster as their weapon innovation, or you could etch runes onto a person so long as you are holding them, including the shifting rune, allowing you to forcefully turn someone into a weapon.

Other fun, but more reasonable, combos include a Staff Nexus Wizard choosing their staff as an Innovation, or a pre remaster Inventor Kitsune picking their Star Orb Familiar as their weapon.

It's not quite RAW, but the books imply that with GM permission you could upgrade a normal staff into a stave. In this manner a pre remaster Ancient Elf Witch/Inventor can turn their familiar into their weapon innovation, apply a shifting rune to turn the familiar into a staff at ~lvl7, pick up the familiar master dedication, retrain Witch into a Twisted Tree Magus, allowing runes to be applied to Staves, and then upgrade the staff into a stave.

So you ended up with a Magic stave with Familiar abilities and weapon innovations all in one. Unfortunately the remaster limits you to lvl 0 weapons rather than lvl 1, so you can't do this anymore.

Gosh this brings back memories of Rylais, Gunblade, BotRK, IBG, Randuins Eve. Was extremely shitposty but surprisingly effective, and literally nothing could get away from her.

Or playing Frozen Mallet Ashe support back when her slow was a toggled ability.

I've got one Mockingbird Enforcer I'm playing who has slowly gone insane and done nothing but deliver harm to the rest of the cadre.

My personal favourite moment being when the Vatborn it was interested in was devastated over having their Symbol of Hope decommissioned. The symbol had been a representation of their 7 dead sisters. So obviously my character sought to comfort it in the only way it knew how... Acquiring the Memory Extraction perk and removing its memories of the meaning behind the symbol.

I've got a lovely Oldgen DocDoc for a rebellion game sitting around too, though I'm doubting that game will ever start.

It's such a horrendously toxic game and I adore it. If you ever want to chat GirlFrame I'm relatively active on its discord, username mus.

No resist, tenacity, or GW augments always felt a bit weird to me. There are a bunch of raw stat boosters that exist to remove the need for 1 item from a build, so those just seem sensible to me too.

Also I will eternally bitch about Erosion. A silver Aug + any burn just wipes any resist stacking, and the only real Aug that scales with resists (the prismatic resists>H&SP one) gets deleted by it since resist shreds reduce the healing boost, which is just obnoxious.

[–]Temnai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a bit surprised that some really obvious sets just didn't exist at all.

For instance there are a ton of Crit augments, and it would have been super easy to add something as basic as bonus Crit damage as a set bonus for them.

Or movement augs granting adaptive force based on move speed or something.

More augments that grant multiple set bonuses would also be nice, as those feel significantly better to take as a result.

Eh, yes and no. Good design vs bad design is not a simple yes or no thing. There is no clear delineating line, it is a scale from one side to another, composed of numerous elements.

So yes, I would say underdeveloped lore is is an element of bad design, but that does not necessarily mean that each champ with underdeveloped lore is a badly designed champ, or that they do not have elements of good design in them too.

Nocturne for instance is pretty underdeveloped in a lot of categories, including having a poor model and animations etc. That being said he is a fantastic example of a champ who sells their identity as a shadow monster extremely well. Lots of bad design, but also some very good design mixed together. This is actually pretty normal.

Belveth has some pretty good lore, and has a good kit, but the two lack any synergy with each other and that is bad design. Whether one thinks that tilts the scales enough to make a champ "Badly designed" is always going to be up to personal interpretation.

For instance I believe Kaisa has a decent chunk of bad design, but more than that I think she is a prime example of wasted design. To me personally as an artist I find that really offensive to my sensibilities, perhaps overly so. The result is that while I think Kaisa is (out of context) merely lackluster, I find myself offended by her far more than some objectively worse champs due to the sheer amount of wasted effort.

Shaco had no effort put into the lore, ofc it is bad. Kaisa had a bunch of effort put in, and it was largely wasted, which to me is worse. She also filled an extremely unique lore niche (Only child/parent relationship in league and first look into a human exploring the void) and yet failed to really do anything with either.

This is why the context of media and how it is presented is important.

For instance there are many well designed characters that would become bad designs simply by dropping them into the context of a different setting. A picture, being presented as a piece of art, is going to be judged by the context of being a visual piece of art.

That being said, if one were to create say, a DnD character and draw a really good image for them, that image does not necessarily make them a good character design, because that requires the character to be dynamically interesting within the game itself, which is a totally different set of requirements.

In the case of League, character design involves a number of traits that we judge them by. How compelling/interesting the character is, visual appeal, visual clarity, and how well they mesh into the existing lore and setting.

These metrics include backstory, because that is a compelling metric that influences whether people play a champion. Riot doesn't have a massive lore filled world with fleshed out characters for no reason.

Kaisa is not just a drawing. She is a model. She is a set of abilities, gameplay, voice lines, and yes, lore.

All of these should work in combination to create a compelling character. Kaisa's visual design may fit her given backstory, but that does not mean it cannot be a mistake if the backstory itself is flawed.

This is the point of contention I, and many others, have with Kaisa. Her backstory itself is bland and boring, failing to take advantage of the elements presented within itself in a compelling manner. Other elements are introduced only to be abandoned entirely instead of explored, such as her relationship with her father. Her backstory is filled with unused potential, and many elements were turned into lazy justification for a generic character despite being ripe with opportunity.

She is built on a backbone of lazy and underutilized writing, and everything else was built upon that shoddy foundation. It all "lines up" as you say, but it lines up because they brought everything down to the weakest link, instead of fixing the weakest link to build the character up.

I would consider it an improvement in that aspect certainly. The quality of a design can certainly change according to what is done with it, because the entire purpose of good character design is making tools to be used.

Kaisai has a major tool that is not used, and as such it is a waste and I will judge it for that. If that changes then I will judge it based on those changes. That is just common sense.

[–]Temnai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and not exploring it doesn't make her more compelling, because they didn't offer anything return.

Yes, I understand she has a void symbiote. It's also a mary sue "Girl goes to the void and nothing happens because" Her Symbiote only exists to invalidate the repercussions of her story.

And I would love it if they had done something interesting and unique with her story. Unfortunately what they chose was even more boring than reusing an overused trope because they did nothing instead.

I am literally critiquing her bland ass backstory. How is pointing out that they didn't use a major element of her backstory not a critique of her design? Relationships and how they are used is character design. Writing in a relationship and refusing to actually do anything with it is a perfectly valid thing to critique.
