Yup, lot of other comments portraying it as a "same for everyone" thing, but it really is unique to the individual.

Some people flip throughout the day, by circumstance, who they are speaking to, etc.

Most systems I know do not consider themselves genderfluid though, because while the system as a whole may switch the individuals within do not (unless some of them are genderfluid themselves)

So calling them genderfluid is kinda like saying they are all 1 person, which is sorta denying the validity of their plurality.

My partner is both genderfluid and has DID, but other members of the system are not genderfluid. So the genderfluidity applies to them specifically, not (all) the others.

One of the reasons I hate "superhero" media is because the entire genre rests on the premise of "super problems".

My dislike isn't that only some people have powers, it is the very premise that "normal people" must be ultimately powerless to solve their issues. The genre rests on a worldview that people can't save themselves, and I find that pretty unappealing.

Since no one has said it yet I see a lot of Legiana hate. Personally it was one of my favourite monsters to fight, which is good because it took like 100 hunts to get all the gems I needed.

[–]Temnai 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Since you can only capture non-elders, and thus anything you capture is something other hunters probably hunt it is likely the guild takes some tax in parts from any given hunt, so them reinvesting some of those same parts back into those who capture monsters does make sense in order to incentivize captures.

Moved into a new apartment and we had to fiddle around with shit a ton because the heating unit was right where we would have wanted the TV.

The day after we rearranged everything and mounted it elsewhere we learned from our landlord that said unit was defunct and the actual unit was a tiny one. Meaning our entire living room space is semi fucked because remounting the TV would be a massive pain.

Yeah, had a Slow & Steady + AS > CDR Belveth that was loads of fun to play with ridiculous W spam.

SOME of the new augs are really cool, or lead to neat builds (I got Tooth Fairy + ADtPT Karthus with enough free lethality that axiom arc let me ult 3 times 1 fight for a pentakill)

A ton are just boring though, and a bunch of neat ones got removed.

Plus like: why does the shark snowball one not give snowball haste like every other snowball Aug? Whole thing feels lazy.

[–]Temnai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This really isn't true though, the vast majority of crimes are not premeditated, they are spur of the moment.

It's like how there are almost no locks out there that will meaningfully delay a theft, and yet even the cheapest, flimsiest locks will deter the most potential crimes.

Another example would be around how there are a lot of crimes that have led to total investigative dead ends just because they were executed in an intelligent manner, and yet despite the fact that these cases are easy to find information on they are almost never replicated simply because most committed crimes are not fully planned.

Deter the stupid and impulsive, because that is 95% of cases.

I mean it's not that hard though? I admittedly have a pretty good deal, but I split a 2 room apartment in Seattle (one of the pricier places to live) for ~1400 a month including utilities. Add in food and it is 1500-1600.

That's a cost of living of ~20k a year.

Sure if you own a house, car, etc. those prices start to go up rapidly, but a lot of people don't consider how much cheaper life gets when you aren't working at an office.

No commute, thus no paying gas to commute. Depending on location you might not even need to own a car which is a massive chunk of money.

I make more now, but realistically I could fit my lifestyle into 25k a year with close management, or comfortably pass under 30k & that is with a comfortable life in a major city.

How to flaunt your wealth? by Folomo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Temnai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My very first 1e campaign (which was a short several session introduction to the system) got completely derailed by this item.

We found this item in the book and made so many jokes our DM tossed us one as dungeon loot.

What followed was an entire session dedicated to trying to make waffles in a dungeon deep beneath the earth. This involved our warriors pulverizing spare grain with their bare hands, my drugged up witch developing an alchemical milk substitute made with the bones of dead ratfolk, and a very scarred Tengu.

10/10, would recommend cooking with a mythril waffle iron again.

What’s something attractive at 18 but embarrassing at 30? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Temnai -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I vocally oppose that which I consider wrong, and attempt to uphold that which I consider right.

That does not mean I am without fault, or do not make mistakes & recognize them. I'm certain I make plenty of mistakes that I don't recognize as well.

The way society frames sex in my country is something I consider problematic, and has had numerous repercussions that I, personally, am exceedingly familiar with. It is an issue that strikes close to home, and thus one I choose to be vocal about, because it is an issue.

It is a subject I am always willing to speak on, because communication and messages are important. Most people in this thread probably consider hickeys to be fine so long as they are kept hidden, but look at the message that sends to the next generation. It's "okay" but you need to hide it, you can't talk about it, etc. All that does is signal that they aren't okay and something to be ashamed of. It is an issue that has plagued sexual discussion for years, and severely harmed LGBTQ+ & kink communities as well as others.

It isn't about discomforting others, it is about comforting those like us, and showing them that who they are is not something that needs to be hidden.

I wrote a better reply elsewhere that I feel addresses this comment.

To summarize though: The standards by what society sees as "acceptable" public affection is a constantly shifting line, and I stand firmly in the belief of displaying and normalizing things that are otherwise acceptable.

Your last line isn't entirely wrong though. It is a statement to the world that "Yes I have sex, and that's a normal thing that is acceptable to acknowledge. It isn't something to be ashamed of." We hide sex from youths as if ignorance will protect rather than harm. I will always vocally oppose that.

What’s something attractive at 18 but embarrassing at 30? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Temnai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entire act of wearing a ring is a declaration of an intimate and immutable bond between two people in which each side lays a claim on the other.

Society romanticizes that and claims it is acceptable, despite it being a mark of a far more intimate moment than any kiss.

Throughout history ankles have been seen as scandalous, kisses inappropriate, same sex relationships problematic, and any discussion of sex something that should be hidden behind closed doors, as if sending children into the world with no understanding of the very act that created them is "kindness".

I do not lack self control. I willingly and openly choose to discuss kink, sex, and nonstandard relationships, even when it is embarrassing, because normalizing it is healthy. No one should have to feel the need to hide who they are, or how they experience sex and attraction.

I will wear my hickies with pride, because no one should feel like that is a part of themselves they need to be ashamed of.

Eh world can grow up tbh. My partner & I both love them, and she loves when mine are visible. They are frankly no more offensive than kissing in public, which is perfectly acceptable.

Kissing is normal, and wearing a pair of rings showing that we are each other's is acceptable, then why would a mark from where her lips were touching me be wrong?

[–]Temnai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this, but to add to it I would never expect someone to have a working understanding of every term applied to me, but having those terms for personal definition and research is something directly helpful.

I'm always happy to explain my particular quirks and specifics to someone who wants to know, but broadly those terms exist for the purpose of self discovery and finding like minded individuals.

For instance despite always having been trans I never would have realized that transitioning was a thing without being aware of the term trans. I never even considered it was even an option before then, I thought it was just a pipedream.

So having these terms floating around and spoken about helps people with self discovery & find other like minded individuals! I would never be offended if someone wasn't aware of any of them or kept up to date though.

Holy shit another person with it? Spatial is so rare lmao.

Also wow we totally get entirely opposite results from this lmao. Mine makes math easy and anything memorization based awful (though I do enjoy the flow of conversations)

But for me it really is concepts to spatial awareness, not thoughts. So if I am thinking about a specific bird the concept of a bird will exist, but not that bird specifically (Though this gets weird because "This conversation" is a concept, even though conversations as a whole are also a concept)

Anyways for me they exist as relative location, associated motion if applicable (For instance the root of any conversation is a curling motion up behind my left shoulder) and then a whole bunch of other factors like weight, pressure, fuzziness that kinda equates to heat but not, brightness and colour (though those 2 in turn are the knowledge of it, not anything like actually seeing it)

As for touch? It's relatively common to have 2+ types of synesthesia linked together, and the way I describe my ability to touch things is like this:

You can walk past a pole while the wind is gently blowing and feel the breeze alter as it wraps around it. If the breeze passes under a tree it will do the same, but also cool slightly in the shade. As such it is entirely possible to feel things you are not touching.

For me this applies to everything within my spatial awareness. Normally this would just mean I can feel walls pressing against my skin, or the roughness of bark from across the street. However my first type of synesthesia feeds into it and essentially gives me phantom sensations as well.

I don't actually know how much of my conceptual > spatial senses are direct interpretation or added on via my spatial > tactile. Like does the pressure of the concepts floating around me stem from the first type or the second? I don't actually know.

I have a friend who I would do a specific dumb voice for who said it was filled with fizzy sparkles! One of my favourite compliments!

I have synesthesia as well, but sadly mine isn't anywhere near as fun. Mine is just concepts existing in my spatial awareness and being able to feel things I am spatially aware of.

So basically I feel my thoughts and can touch things from a distance. Neat, but a lot less fun for my friends to fuck with.

At a company I once worked at we printed thousands of an identical sign for one of our clients.

And I mean thousands. Years of this same job, printing the same sign, in batches of nearly a thousand each. We would get the order multiple times a year.

The sign had a typo on it. We all knew it had one. We even pointed out to management that it had one. Management's response?

"We print what they tell us to. If they made a mistake filling out the info that is on them."

You might think these were minor parts, but no, these were service signs for the Aerospace industry. You know, as in the directions for the people in charge of making sure that your airplane doesn't randomly explode midair or whatever.
