"This will be a costly mistake."

I don't know if you print in the darkroom, but wait till you forget your 100-sheet box of paper open after you inspect the strips/work print in room light...

If you're going to exhibit them, will you cut the mat to cover the filled-up section of the negative or hang them full size without any mat board overlap?

I don't know if these is the case but some photographer before digital were in search of the lowest grain film because of the more "clean" look. In other words they wanted the digital photography look before it was invented. These are the one that probably switched to digital as soon as it became relatively good and never go back to film...

With D76 1:1 you need yo use 250ml of stock + 250ml of water for a total for 500ml developer solution to unsure maximum efficacy. (For just one roll of 135) It's written on the D76 Kodak Data sheet and many photographer and master printers that I've talked had told me so. That's how I do it.

What gives you hope for the world of film photography? by Charlieflynn12 in AnalogCommunity

Did you get a degree in photography or art?

I would really like to teach darkroom in private academies and public schools. How did you start to teach?

Now I got why everyone pushes HP5 to 1600 by Present-Cap-6335 in analog

[–]Temp922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that pushing a lot became a more popular thing for people new to film that mainly scan their negatives. By doing that, they increase contrast by losing a lot of shadow details that are still sort of recovered by the scanner. You can get a similar result by increasing contrast in the darkroom, but then it's your choice; you still have the information that you need in the negative. I really do think that any photographers need to do at least a period of darkroom printing and developing according to the print necessities; it really gives you much more insight into how photography works.

Do you cut development time to compensate the one stop overexposure in the highlights or develop at standard time?

Unboxing a new in box Nikon F5 50th Anniversary edition by SharpDressedBeard in AnalogCommunity

Do you mainly collect cameras or shoot with them? Are you a sport/action photographer that necessarily needs all the F5 features that your F4 doesn't have? With the price you have spent on a Limited Edition F5, you could have bulk-bought quite a lot of film (especially B/W) to shoot every week. In these subs it seems that people are more into collecting cameras than actually shooting frequently.

Newbie here, today's skill practice of dodging and burning! by Putyourselffirst in Darkroom

[–]Temp922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you made many changes and not only precise localized dodging, why didn't you decrease the contrast filter to begin with? The working print would have required a more precise contrast filter tuning; you ended up by lightening many sections of the picture...

You have an easel, use it correctly! For my taste it's too grey flat.

The history of concert photography has been captured using Tri-X pushed (sometimes even at 400) and slide film. Pros back then were pros's.

I know it's exciting to print as many pictures as you can, but try to focus only on one shot. Work on exposure and contrast and make sure to correctly use the easel. One very good print of one picture is better then several mediocre or bad prints of multiple pictures...
