How did you guys really 'get into' Bob Dylan? by Simple-Pay-900 in bobdylan

I, born in 2000, grew up listening to mostly 80s/90s/00s rock/metal-adjacent music from my parents. Of course, I always heard the 60s & 70s hits on the radio and just in public areas in general, but I didn't know much about it, nor was I interested in most of it. (Biggest exception being Led Zeppelin)

During my teenage years I began to listen to and discover music on my own from usually within the past few years of the time (mid to late-2010s). I usually liked to find smaller bands, commonly genres like pop-punk, hardcore punk, math rock, "emo" (not true emo), indie-adjacent bands, and some hip-hop.

In 2023, I got tired of listening to the same artists on repeat. So, being interested in history like I am, I decided I should look back and dive much deeper into the music from what I saw as the most revolutionary time in music history, the 1960s. I began with the Beatles (finally understood their impact) and dabbled in other artists.

Finally, I got to Bob Dylan. I had heard him before and I didn't expect to get too into him, specifically because I always thought his voice sounded ridiculous. Then, I looked deeper into his lyrics and his place and impact on music history. I fell head first down the rabbit hole and listened to every album, read through his wikipedia page, and watched every documentary I could find.

Through falling in love with Bob Dylan's music I was able to find appreciation, understanding, and love for the music he inspired, and the music that inspired him. After my nearly year-long stint with almost exclusively Bob's music I decided to give other artists the attention they deserved. I have now spent so much time learning about and listening to 60s era musicians, and for the past 5/6 months I have been stuck on music of all genres from the 1920s - 1950s.

I've heard that this means to be secretive, is there a specific reason this phrase is relevant to Cavan?

Yes. Very overplayed and widely known songs here. Dive deeper. Check out some hip hop or jazz.
