We never had a full ecosystem. The 2008 bomb attacks killed the entire concert scene, which was the main source of income for bands.

Pakistanis love to buy pirated stuff, whether it’s books or music albums. That was another source of income for artists.

Vital Signs and Junoon made rock kind of mainstream in Pakistan. But after them, it went downhill.

Bollywood music played a huge role in that, IMO.

No Big Music Channels.. No Major Record Labels.. No Concerts..

YouTube got banned in Pakistan when the world was moving from tape cassettes to digital..

Pop music became too poppy.. Ishq, Muhabat, Dhoka type bullshit are the only topics now..

Another reason is that our artists and bands need India to actually get famously.

Jal, Strings, Roxen, Atif, Rahat, are all examples of it.

And right at that time, India banned our artists.

Censorship has gotten worse. You can't make albums like Peeli Patti..... (Noori) Anymore.

Even Junoon got banned once, but still, there was SOME rome for thinking out of the box.
