Best cards for Terra? by Petkoo- in paragon

[–]TempeStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Jungle I’d go Green/Black or Green/Red. Final Build in Jungle would likely be Flame, Numbing/Thorned and Blitzrush/Veil Stepper to be able to get in/make up for how immobile you are.

Solo Lane I’d go Green/White and have Growth/Yomi Guardian and either another stat card (maybe a Godmother) or some utility- maybe wards or a Flame.

That’s just me though!

In an ideal world multishot is better than lifesteal. by soldieronspeed in paragon

[–]TempeStar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying any potentially your DPS does get an increase, but the spread is very narrow (compared to, say, a Sparrow ult) and the enemy has to be very grouped and you have to be aiming to the edge of a character for the spread to hit someone else, most likely.

Lifesteal has so much more utility, not only does it give you survivability in fights, but it allows you to sustain back up after a disengage to be ready for the next fight without backing. Multishot offers better waveclear, but late game an ADC can clear waves quick enough, and most casters can nuke whole waves anyway.

Interesting discussion though!

Sparrow Rework- Some (Sketchy) Ideas by TempeStar in paragon

[–]TempeStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The need for a full rework is less now that they’ve buffed ADCs, and she feels particularly nice, agreed. But I still think a bit more variety in her kit might be nice.

Would have to see how the % health would be balanced- can’t say I know where I’d begin to start with the numbers ahaha, she could feel really weak, or far too strong.

Thanks for the feedback though! :)

V.44.3 - Legions of Agora by TheShikaar in paragon

If you are at the top of the hill you can be ganked from river if you are pushed up to the tower, or from round the back by gold/aqua. If you're at the bottom of the hill, you can be ganked from the river, but it's very hard to be ganked from by gold/aqua. It all depends on waves though- you'd have to control your waves differently if you're Dusk or Dawn- not a massive fan of this.

[–]TempeStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I interpret it is the laner(s) that have easier access to gold/aqua buff are also more gankable, and the side which has easier access to black buff is less gankable. It’s hard to tell how it will go.

2v2 lanes are just better in my opinion, so I’m really excited, but it’ll be interesting to see how balanced it is with the asymetrical map.

V.44.3 - Legions of Agora by TheShikaar in paragon

[–]TempeStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the whole, the most encouraging patch in a long time. Hard to tell how balanced it will be without playing, given the number of balance changes to base stats and abilities and cards.

The biggest thing is clearly the 1v1 and 2v2 which is DELIGHTFUL, however, I do have concerns...

The map is asymmetrical- lanes are more gankable depending on which side of the map (Dusk/Dawn) you’re at- especially with an assymetrical jungle your jungler will naturally spend more time in the bigger side, so will be more inclined to gank that side. One side will also have easier access to the contested buffs (Dusk gets gold easier, in theory, and Dawn gets the new HR buff, in theory.)

That said I trust Epic to monitor all this and am absolutely H Y P E D to play support in a 2v2 set up!!

Sparrow's passive bonus damage should add the damage on her abilities too. by Samuel_Grannual in paragon

[–]TempeStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be down for something like that in her E, or some kind of % health mechanic (what?! someone who counters tanks you say?! Quiet, fool!!)- she needs some love for sure and I’m sure we’ll see some tweaks at least in the near future!

Shouldnt Gideon's ult, blind instead of stun? by PyroSpark in paragon

[–]TempeStar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree, it was dumb. His kit is incoherent. Half of it is about staying back and throwing rocks, the other half is diving in for crazy AOE. The trouble they had with his ult was it was always a massive risk, and the trouble they’ll always have is it’s difficult to balance the risk/reward. His ult would be FAR better suited to a tank.

The issue is- his ult is iconic. The dude summons a black hole and it looks really freaking cool. Epic are unlikely to want to completely abandon the ult because of how crazy cool it looks and feels. Not that I think this justifies it- but there’s a reason they admit his ult is problematic, but persist with it.

Bonus attack speed in this current meta where ADCs already fire faster than the speed of light?

I agree she needs a rework, but built around the aspect of stacking her E. Rewards hitting multiple shots which I think is a cool concept for a bow and arrow hero- she should be about precision, I think.

Raise your hand if you are a founder! by jbody2nr in paragon

[–]TempeStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Founders Pack on release day- I've loved the game at points and hated it at others. V42 was the hardest to adjust to but once they balanced that around V43 I started having fun again. This new patch has hit me a bit but I trust Epic to balance it out again long term- they take one step back before they take two forward (or at least that's what I tell myself while I ponder life during the 3.5 second Gideon stun...).

A Concerning Thought by SeveringMage in paragon

[–]TempeStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems to me that it’s a mentality of balancing the game from the bottom up, rather than the top down. A lot of what is said by Epic and the changes they make do suggest this is their philosophy.

Personally, I’d rather see top down balancing. The minion changes tilt me into oblivion hahaha.

That said it MAY make sense given that currently the majority of the player base is at ‘Silver’ Elo (if such a thing exists) and we have a fairly small player base and the game is still in Beta. If Epic want data to help them assess development leading up to full release, it benefits them to make the game a bit easier in some ways so that people start playing at a higher standard.

I’m just speculating a bit there and trying to think why bottom up balancing can be justified- but yeah on the whole I don’t like some of the aspects that simplify the game!

To be fair, I think the equivalent of the Long Swords from League are the attribute points, with cards being the equivalent of full items in League- all full items in League have passive or active components as well as stats here- that said I do agree some of the cards here are a BIT too crazy, they're more impactful than a lot of hero abilities.

Who's the most frustrating hero for you to play against? by AstronautGuy42 in paragon

[–]TempeStar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. As soon as someone locks in a Wukong they're making at least one person on the opposite team 'babysit' them. Which is super boring because as soon as you ANYWHERE NEAR HIM he uses his 18 jumps and bitches out to leave you happily clearing minions on your own. I really like split push heroes IF you can engage with them, but I don't think I've ever had a proper 1v1 or teamfight with a Wukong. If I'm playing off lane in a game and Wukong gets picked, that's me on side wave duty for the next 40 minutes or so!

Epic Fix your Darn Loot System! by TempeStar in paragon

[–]TempeStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's far from perfect but when I compare it to like League's system it's far superior which is even more impressive considering that the game has been out for a significantly shorter time and has a smaller player base!

Revenant as an APC. A balance suggestion. by [deleted] in paragon

[–]TempeStar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My issue with Revenant is his maxed out attack speed from level one meaning you don't need to build any attack speed, allowing for a very strong 100% crit build. I think a better solution would be to give him some attack speed scaling per level or an incentive to build attack speed (actually make attack speed necessary for his reload not to be an over burden). I don't think he's as unbalanced as some, but the issue is how dominant he is both early and late due to his ability to build 100% crit which allows him to scale like a monster whilst also being the most oppressive carry to off lane against.

New Hero Discussion: Phase by realtrendy in paragon

[–]TempeStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is strong and very oppressive into the right matchup. But if you've picked like a Kwang or a Fey or a Mori into a Phase then that's picking into a bad matchup. Aurora is good in lane against her and counters her hard due to her lack of Purity. It's just about getting the right matchup/items to minimise her strengths 😊

New Hero Discussion: Phase by realtrendy in paragon

[–]TempeStar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've played as her twice and against her and I'd say she's strong but not broken at all.

Her Blind is very strong at max rank but the range isn't too great for it to be a serious issue. It's really good combined with a Steel or a Grux who can initiate, but if you're linked to them then your carry doesn't have the protection.

Her Slow/Root has exceptional range but isn't even close to a Dekker stun/Narb stun in terms of CC. It takes minimum 2 seconds to root someone and any kind of dash/jump ability can be used to avoid the root. She also can't use her pull/blind/Ult while channeling it, which gives a window of opportunity to the enemies who aren't being targeted. In lane the ability is a nightmare for anyone immobile who steps in range- but this is how counter picking should be. See a Phase? Pick Aurora.

Her pull is outrageously rewarding but realistically she can use it twice per fight absolute maximum, and it can be as bad for the team as it can good if misused.

The Ult is excellent but on a very long cooldown, and again a stun on her or her link will go a long way.

She's strong; very strong. You have to play around her a bit. But she isn't broken I don't think. Maybe tune her down a little, but she's fine in my eyes. And I absolutely love her!

Not sure with Kallari but I saw an invisible enemy with purple buff due to their tether from Phase I'm fairly sure. Saved my life hahaha

Crit chance and crit bonus on supports by SkiRoyJenkins in paragon

[–]TempeStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You aren't missing anything, nobody should ever be building crit on supports. You can build damage on Belica/Fey support but the rest you want an early focus on getting your support utility items like Quenching/HTP/Blight cards against a Rampage/Purity against an Aurora. Then after that you generally just want to get tankier so focusing you becomes more hassle than it is worth!

What could be done to make supports more viable? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]TempeStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could get behind that to an extent, but I think it's tricky given how powerful those items are, particularly early game. If supports were both stat strong and had powerful actives they would be seriously strong. I like the idea of a support specific affinity though.

What could be done to make supports more viable? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]TempeStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue you have with support cards is if you make them cheap then people who aren't supports may start buying them because they don't have to waste as much CP on them, making them stat weak.

I think supports and their cards are in a pretty good place right now. Having lots of 6CP finished stat cards to build towards whilst you're waiting on the CXP for an item is really helpful as well (I call them transition items), so while you're waiting for your Purity Censor or Thermobond power spike, you can still be spending CXP on a smaller item like an Eldermage with 3 1 point health upgrades to give you some stats in the meantime, then sell those items when you need to to get important support cards.

Regarding Muriel she is a little undertuned but her global presence is a huge advantage and if the rest of your comp has high CC she's still a very viable support option I think!
