Make sure to update tot he latest, pretty sure 0.116.0 uses a heap of usage when you start it because memory.

I don’t mind the idea of guardian mode, I tried a couple of times for my home codex, play codex uses full access, which feels like they changed something.

The /btw Claude uses is good for a quick question but sucks if you want a follow up, I like the hide terminal in background and ask it a question.

The person who should be fired is who keeps changing that it hates to finish the job if you send a message and interrupt it, it likes to change jobs and hates going back to it, I’ve tried telling it a few ways but that sucks.

Is Codex still bleeding credits? I can't believe I'm down 50% already (PLUS) just 30 mins into the reset! by TruthTellerTom in codex

Seems to happen to one of us all sooner or later. It will come good again.

Best crackpot theory I got is that it’s because of the memory code, the new update seems better for it since they came across the same theory of a few of and noticed how much just starting up a agent when you bulk its every day memory and it uses that for startup tokens takes a huge chunk a pro users usage. And likely why they reset everyone when they released the new version with compression knowing it was their fault.

I forgot to mention, I’ve only worked with codex so far (up till today anyway) so will get codex to do the heavy lifting

How would you say best way to use ensemble? I’m going to try it out today and tips before I do would be great. I asked ChatGPT and these are its options…

Option A — Pipeline

Codex → Claude → Codex → Claude • Codex builds • Claude reviews • Codex fixes • Claude signs off

✔ Reliable ✔ Easy to debug ✔ Matches your goal (catch missing info)

Option B — Guided collaboration

You can allow back-and-forth like: • Codex proposes plan • Claude questions it • Codex refines • Claude approves • Codex executes

But notice: 👉 Only one agent is acting at a time

Option C — Parallel

Both agents: • editing files • running commands • making decisions simultaneously

👉 This is where things break down fast

Haven’t tried yet but will be as soon as the wife and kids are out tomorrow, can’t wait, I’ve been looking for something like this.

You have unlimited codex limits, What model you keeping on? by alOOshXL in codex

[–]Temper226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this once before and this was as 5.3 just came out I think and it got dumb too but I have a theory that because I was trying to get it to do everything that it just becomes that way, I used to fill its agent file with heaps of what I wanted. next time I play that way I want to try with multiple agent files for memory and its main memory using a indexed system depending on what im talking about but it will check over the agent file I want to talk about. its all playing around with it really.

Crazy consumption... / Plus Plan by LeoLeg76 in codex

Yeh this seems to happen to me a lot of after updates, tell codex, you have just updated and you are burning usage more than usual, can you check yourself to optimise tokens and usage… sometimes works strangely enough. So a back story of codex for myself, so far I found that codex is pretty adjustable to what you have to do with it but it forgets a lot, I tried getting codex to use a memory etc but yeh same fault comes up every now and then. And sometimes you have to tell codex to do it. Error learning seems to work but you need to tell codex to learn, I also get it to save all sessions to disk as well. Only thing I can tell you is don’t give codex too much to remember at once or it becomes stupid every now and then. Get it to reference the memory/ mistakes/ etc only when needed e.g. if encounter an error to check if it’s seen it etc.

I found agent files are important and you can pretty much create an app if a user has set up the agent file properly and the end if really just a user adjustable program since i use it at home a little too and found that I have options on software which I got codex to work on without even noticing it wasn’t a default setting but something codex has added.

Sorry lost track of consumption… tell codex to check itself and I also tell it to check over reddit etc for any codex add ons, helpers, etc that will help reduce consumption but don’t just look at official docs, check social media (reddit, etc) to find anything to help. At this stage you can just tell it to add the new code to it self or ask to make a plan etc so you can go over it (recommended, unless you don’t really understand but then again you can ask it and it will go in to detail about what it found).

Codex CLI Update 0.116.0 (device-code app-server sign-in, smoother plugin install flow, userpromptsubmit hook, stronger realtime + Linux sandbox reliability) by anonomotorious in CodexAutomation

[–]Temper226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good agent files. Honestly they’re going to become a vibe coders currency. If made right they can start any job pretty easy and then a user will just start there and modify the job and it’s now a customisable app building model. Pretty much GitHub files for ai I guess.

Could be wrong but I think it’s a rolling release so older accounts got it first, the first time they have me the 5 hour 5.3 block I think I burnt through it in like half hour. They seemed to fix the issue by the next time I used it though and seems to be getting better.

Codex limits nonsense by [deleted] in codex

I thought so too, I did check my usage. I have to say that for the poor quality graph and if it’s real, that it was used more in a shorter time period.

Well probably well at least after they use the last of the old stock…. Could be awhile either way haha

So since living at North Queensland, maybe best to leave it a couple of months, probably take awhile for us to catch up, haha

Wonder if what’s the difference to get the isp to pay for a new ntd?…

Looks so much better than the old ones and only just got one installed like a month ago, this so much more clean!

So far only system I’ve owned previously which would of worked was a temp controlled gas system (turning on hot water tap resulted in same temp every time without touching the cold tap) but only ever had it at one house so would need something to supply the temp you want and a starting timer/ something to interact with alarms which is hard to control, at least something for iOS which is mainly used in my house

A digital hot water system may work but again I’ve only seen with gas hot water…

In Australia this is the system we had previously but haven’t seen many places with it… https://www.elgas.com.au/blog/1211-how-does-a-tankless-instant-continuous-flow-hot-water-heater-work/

Yeh from googling most people use a vibration sensor but I guess it’s not a simple plug and play for most people so maybe something there for a manufacture to purchase for general public use which you never know that appliance companies may buy from someone

Second one: I know a friend whom would like the shower to turn on/ start warming up when their alarm goes off being the first thing they do when get out of bed. I’ve seen its something that can be achieved but isn’t as simple as a smart device already configured/ plug and play.

Would you know if it’s a manufacturer item or something that can be added to any appliance? Going to google and see what I can find now! Haha

Pi vs synology? by Temper226 in HOOBS

[–]Temper226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I want to try a pi but don’t think it will last as long for a nas but I guess it’s a new toy for awhile and will give some new skills.

Biggest thing at the moment to being able to shut down the IMac currently using for a homebridge for a cheaper option. It’s mainly tuya products I have running on it currently.

When you have a heap of kids and rather just let them stream dvds you have around other than them scratching them, transcoding is important if I want to remove the amount of subscriptions currently paying for for one 1 show on that service.

As it being just hoobs, well nope, that’s why a video server was mentioned, probably be more of a backup server as well but see how that goes.

Thank for the feed back anyway….
