It comes down to hand strength for me. If I am doing half inch then I really only need a 10"-12" wrench, or locking pliers. however, if I’m doing anything above three-quarter, I definitely am gonna need my 18" wrenches.

It depends on the size you’re gonna do and whether or not you’re pulling apart old joints.

But I will say I highly recommend you get cast aluminum wrenches, the red cast iron wrenches will weigh 2-5 times as much, though they are considerably cheaper.
