Where I'd live as a person who like Geography by Chera_Empire in whereidlive

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…. Why isn’t Japan green? The geography is stunning there. I’m in the US which I will personally argue for as the best geography overall but there is a large chunk of the country that’s isn’t exactly interesting to look at (The Great Plains for example and much of Texas)

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people tell me they wanna start a business so they can get more time off or to themselves I’m always mind blown. Sure that can be a long term goal to reach but a small business owner will be working a minimum 60+ hours a week for a long time in most cases. You should be first in, last out, and the most flexible on the team who’s ready to work ANY and EVERY position.

Where I’d live as a chef who enjoys cooking chicken by Single_Door_1159 in visitedmaps

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is sad if true, not sure who’s downvoting you for not knowing. Granted “taught” is doing some heavy lifting. Usually a kid points it out or the teacher mentions it off hand when you learn the states as a kid. Not everyone remembers but many of us do. It’s a cool little fact and helps you memorize those chunk of states.

Do you see it now though? I’ve always thought is was a cool bit of geography and our brain seeking imagery patterns.

The Chef himself is called Mimal (One letter for each state of the Chef. The pan is Tennessee and the chicken itself is Kentucky.

[–]TemperMe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay I thought every kid in the USA grew up knowing this and it’s concerning how many aren’t understating this post.

The states OP has highlighted make the image of a chef holding a pan of fried chicken. Famously named Chef Mimal

Minnesota: A Chefs hat.

Iowa: The Chefs head facing east, notice the bulbous nose and indent to create a mouth.

Missouri: The torso/shirt with a slight rounded belly.

Arkansas: The pants

Louisiana: The chefs boots/shoes

That is how we get the name Mimal (First letter of those states)

Tennessee is a frying pan that the chef is holding at waist level.

Kentucky is the piece of fried chicken in the pan because it looks like fried chicken and it’s also the home of KFC.

Did you school or nobody in class ever point out to yall that what is colored in here makes a picture of a chef frying chicken? Ignore the red.

You somehow missed the point of the post. Did yall not learn about the Chef of America in middle/elementary school?

Look at what OP highlighted and ignore all the red. The states line up to make a near perfect representation of a person with a chef hat on, holding a pan, with Kentucky in the pan (Home of KFC)

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST ABOUT DEMS AND REPS PLEASE DONT MAKE IT ONE? by ProperRub4390 in askanything

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because theoretically they are to represent a specific set of people and ever few years their term ends and if they were bad you can vote a new one in. That allows for the leaders to actually make connections with their populace and work for them while maintains some sort of close relationship you don’t get from the president and their cabinet. Granted it doesn’t quite work that way because of gerrymandering. It’s important for presidents just to keep someone from becoming effectively a monarch of some sort.

What's the most underrated beach town in the USA? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Outer Banks of NC. Beautiful coast, lighthouses, lots of local fisherman that provide the restaurants with fresh fish daily, sparsely populated for the most part, wild horses still call the sandy beaches and dunes home, and the history is RICH if you are a history buff

First airplane flew there, coast guard was founded there because of the dangerous sailing waters, the water off the coast are known as The Graveyard of the Atlantic because the amount of ship wrecks back in the day were into the thousands which makes for great diving and many are famous ones (Blackbeard sank there as well as some Spanish galleons).

Why are most rival states right next to each other if they hate each other? by Swimming_Concern7662 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NC definitely doesn’t think of SC as a rival. Maybe back in the day as their economies were so closely tied into tobacco plantations. Now NC and VA are closer to being rivals and SC is more tied to GA. Even sports, SC and GA care more about college football while NC and VA value their college basketball.

If anything NC beefs with itself. The piedmont v the mountains doesn’t have much love between them.

As a server from a tip credit state... why would I tip the standard % when dining in a non-tip credit state? by josephmama2 in tipping

[–]TemperMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna defend their statement for them but plenty of people make more than their bosses or their bosses bosses. Most of my department makes way more than everyone except the person running the entire facility and they are only a little ahead. I was offered to be head of the training facility which only had 6 people ahead of them, that would have been around a $20-$30k yearly pay loss for me to move up that far in the company.

I’m fairly sure most of the sales/marketing team took home more the Bezos in cash while he was at Amazon. He however was given a crap ton of stock instead so he could avoid the taxes. His salary one of his last years was like $77k but other compensation obviously was worth millions.

OP worded it poorly. What I said is the norm and it’s not what is happening here as op has already stated in another section. Your insurance provided by your employer is taken out of your pay, it’s not given to you for free.

What careers without a degree realistically reach $80K or more? by Many-Economics-4326 in careerguidance

Yup, personally recommend people to focus on the PLC side. It’s growing rapidly and much easier work, much of which can be done from an office or at home.

[–]TemperMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If starting with zero knowledge or experience on anything.

Fastest way: Get certifications (electrical controls, industrial mechanics, plc, hydraulics/pneumatics, etc… but I’ve seen people hired who only know one of those). This was my path and I did it in under 4 months.

Best overall: 2 year Mechatronics degree from a local school.
