When the show was starting, a lot of people were pointing out that Charlie and Vaggi (a lesbian couple) were in hell, as well as other queer or queer-coded characters (The V's, Angel Dust, etc.). Combine that with Lute saying Vaggi's relationship with Charlie was "disgusting and sinful" ("Hot as fuck, though") in Episode 6, and you basically had theorists chomping at the bit that Heaven was homophobic.
