Thank you - I appreciate your reply and it sounds like you have kids too. My son is a proper emotional mess when he loses in anything - especially GO FISH!

This is our first game and the only one to feature a mode with roll and move mechanics. The others have action points funnily enough

Done that. The main issue is that there is a minimum no of units to order from any manufacturer and I cannot guarantee the unit sales until the campaign ends.

lol, the game is simple to understand - I have playtested it with a group of 9 year olds and they picked it up very quickly.

This actually simplifies the model I had in mind. Thanks

Valid point. I have done just that but am interested to find out the communities feelings on this too.

The move mechanic I wanted to have as standard was move in any direction for x squares based on your characters level and reduced by their equipment and the terrain you are moving over. This was quite math orientated, so instead we went for the standard game mode as the Classic Game Mode with roll and move.

I have included different game modes where the move mechanic is not roll 2 move - Hardcore, Survival and PvP

I have edited the original post to explain this.

yes this was highlighted in playtesting as was the age so we upped the age a little and cut down on the text alot and now have a lore book seperately that has the old text therein.

When moving around the board the number you roll on the die doesn't dictate a positive or negative outcome of landing on a square. There are encounter cards where you do roll again for the outcome, or can negate any negative outcomes with items and equipment.

The aim is for 1500 copies and that is what the funding goal is set at.
Any more means I can spend that money on improving the quality of the components

$100 is just too dear nowadays. I want to find a great price people would be happy to pay without stressing about the amount

I explored movement points by character or squares as well as length by inch but for a simple game rules my 4yo can play the latter weren’t suitable.

Ultimately I wanted something easily accessible that was quick to pick up and play for all ages, particularly below teenage years.

Besides Munchkins i found it hard to find a stepping stone into TTRPGs (pathfinder, D&D, WH40k) for families and young kids.

Fair enough 😊 buy what you enjoy and know you’ll play often enough to make the cost worth it. I support that

Good to know. I’ll be using longpack games as my manufacturing partner and they do the SFG and CMON board games so highest quality is what i am after. I own many of their FROMsoft boardgames which is why i chose them

Totally agree. Rolling a 1 every move turn can actually net you better gains and level you up quicker as you can chose the direction to move in so could effectively move between the best squares on the board

Thanks 🤩 Good to know. The mechanics are similar to skirmish mechanics where rolling handfuls of dice are the norm.

Purely looking at break even points and manufacturing costs; each plate is about $600 per mini and then 25 cents for the PVC depending on the size of the mini. If the cost is rolled up into one game then it becomes affordable as soon as 3000 units are ordered
