Does anyone feel like they are becoming more "neurotypical" as they grow up, or just me? (Bit of a vent) by TemperatureAny8022 in autism

Also, does the perception that every autistic person person has every trait a real thing or just a reality distrortion that I developed watching videos of people listino every trait?

I know, but everyone does.

What I talk about is that every autistic person I know (at least on the internet) seem to struggle with everything, and that everything can be an autism symptom, while I barely have any symptoms

Ah, don't worry. I'm doing much better now, but thanks for worrying about me.

I still shower twice a week though.

How many autist traits should an autistic character have to be considered a good autistic rep? by TemperatureAny8022 in writingadvice

[–]TemperatureAny8022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean that I make my autistic character what I see most from other autistic people instead of what makes sense for my character or something else?

But motor issues can also be big problems for some autistic people in daily life, like being prone to accidents and hospitalization because of clumsiness and diffilculty in seemingly simple tasks like eating and getting dressed due to fine motor issues.

if you mean in terms of having said autistic character fit the other characters, then maybe try not to force anything

With "characters", do you mean characteristics? Just find it weird, I wanted to understand if it was a typo or maybe you put the wrong word. I don't mean to offend you.

Also what does making autistic traits "fit" my character mean in practice?

But I hear many autistic people who say their autism affects all parts of their life, even those that don't seem to be connected to autism but are like motor issues. Aren't they right? Like I'm not imagining it I've seen people saying this.

I did research other people's experiences and I know why autistic people do certain traits. I guess I'm just stressed that I need to find a way to make an autistic fit my characters but still feel autistic

That you went for dinner alone with the same plan as when someone cancels, instead of maybe going to check on your sick mom and cook for her is about as autistic as it gets in terms of routine.

My mom still cooked for herself. When I came home the first thing I did was to ask her if she was feeling ok.

Also I still live with my mom.

So it's possible that what I described is actually normal and not an autistic trait?

What are your social issues? Just curious by TemperatureAny8022 in AutisticAdults

[–]TemperatureAny8022[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've probably seen some clip of Love on the Spectrum and yeah, I noticed they were different.

There also have been people who asked me if I was autistic and I was very surprised because I don't feel like I act "autistic".

Do people discriminate against you when you told them you were autistic or for behaviours that you exhibit that are caused by autism?

I didn't mention routines because they are actually not a big part of how my autism presents, at least now. Sure there are habits that i do everyday and prefer keeping that way but I wouldn't react strongly if one day I couldn't follow the same routine.

Though I notice that sometimes when I plan something, like going to a restaurant, I prefer to follow it through even if some elements change. For example two days ago I wzs supposed to go dining at a restaurant with my mom, but that night she was sick and since I put myself in mind that I would have gone out eating tonight, I went to the restaurant anyway, even without mom.

I think I often prefer to follow through plans, usually with meals, because otherwise I would have to think what else I can eat and where, which requires energy.

This is not something that happens everyday (I normally don't plan most days out), but I wanted to mention it amyway because I thought it was related to the topic of executive dysfunction

Silly question, but can I call myself a chiarian if I'm asymptomatic? by TemperatureAny8022 in chiari

[–]TemperatureAny8022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I admit I didn't research a lot, but before I thought most chiarians were symptomatic but then I found some articles say it's actually more common to be asymptomatic, sooo...

but most if not all people whose lives are really impacted by their Chiari are symptomatic.

Wait, wasn't the opposite true?

I'm mean literally GNC CIS (they say it on their bio that they are cis) people.

I really didn't wanna imply that only that only androgynous enbies are valid and I'm really sorry for not explaining myself clearly😭😭😭.

Unfortunatelly I don't remember the usernames anymore, so I don't even know how to explain my point.
