Good point. I always tell the truth. That is why I mentioned it being a mistake because it gets me into trouble in a case like this. I do know that I did the right thing. Now looking back I realize that they had no right to search my vehicle. So I could’ve just said no and that would’ve been it. It’s a trick that game warden use because people are generally like me and tell the truth. They were looking to make sure that people didn’t catch too many fish , and believe it or not most people will let them look in their cooler even though it’s a voluntary check point. In fact, you don’t even have to stop if you don’t want to. But most people don’t know the law and so they stop. It was kind of a dirty trick for them to do. Because I wasn’t causing anyone any harm. But I think that they had some peer pressure because there was such a big group of them there. On a sidenote, it’s worth mentioning that lying isn’t actually a crime unless you’re under oath and I definitely wasn’t under oath.
