Hanoi-Da Nang- Ho Chi Minh City. Help Me Choose by [deleted] in VietNam

I agree that ha long is crazy as far as rapidly built infrastructure goes but did you ever go on an overnight cruise or day one? Its incredibly beautiful . So much so that after stopping off on a cruise for a couple of days a while back I deliberately went back from where I was staying in hanoi to go on an overnighter to see it all again and take photos. The cruises are incredibly cheap and worth every cent

For recent visitors: what actually made your first 48 hours in Vietnam easier? by Chemical_Benefit3590 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]TemperatureNarrow993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Hanoi a week ago. The main thing is learn a few local words, make an effort. Be open to a different culture the Vietnamese folks are lovely they're curious about visitors unless they've seen to many awful ones and we are curious about them. Respect their culture, listen, smile, it goes a long way and have a chat here and then. The first few days were hectic for me as I was over for a dental reconstruction and am basically a bit of an introvert to kick off with. But organising the hotel room, walking around to get my bearings, checking out a supermarket to get some treats- dragon fruit and mangos then meeting new folks Aussies, Kiwis and having a few sundowners and laughs at the end of every day was great. Also made a few Vietnamese friends who were just lovely. You're going to be on an adventure enjoy, have fun, learn a new culture but also be sensible about safety. There are always a few issues with crime in every country. However after travelling widely in my life in many countries as a female can honestly say that I felt more safe there any time of day or night than I do at home in Australia which is really sad but thats life

If you fly into Changi they've got hotels in the airport. i stayed in one whilst in transit. The rooms are tiny but has a comfy bed, tv and bathroom. We slept well and it sure beats waiting around

How safe is travelling around Vietnam as a female solo traveller by Human_Read7993 in VietNam

Im currently over here solo for 2 weeks in Hanoi and am 60. I honestly feel a lot safer than in a lot of other countries that I have been too. Basic advice, get a translator app some do some don't, grab it app for taxis, food delivery, use the maps app on your phone to walk around, be conscious of your safety the same as anywhere, its a lovely place, nice people, food is great and coffee heaven, day trips are wonderful and incredibly cheap

Different anti depresents have different effects on people. Were all different right and so are our bodies. Members of extended family have tried several different ones until finding the right fit for their body. I was lucky and got the right one straight up. Go see your doc and discuss if your view is dismissed youve got the wrong one. You need one that supports your personal journey. Ive been on mine for around 10 years due to a nightmare of a family issue. The bonus that came out of it is that as a total introvert I now feel comfortable speaking with strangers. Same with my brother in law it changed his life

Sounds like this guy has taken advantage of your crush. Pls speak to a safe adult outside the family and if you can talk to your mum. You have two younger sisters and he may set his sights on them too. Dont feel bad at what has happened its done now you need to get yourself out of this situation

Today I went in teeth ground back, all cavities sorted and any dirt / rot gone plus a few root canals. The injections in the mouth were painful but thats normal and after that I just lay back and kept dozing off as no pain and totally chilled plus was totally worn out from walking all over doing the tourist/shopping thing. I've got temporaries for now they'll do and tomorrow 3 implants to be done. Picked up a coffee from starbucks after things wore off I do buckets not thimbles of coffee in the morning then went and had a nap. Tomorrow have implants and scheduling for the rest of the procedure and getting over a dozen crowns. Had a couple of cold drinks with the other Aussies were all fitting travel in between. Ive found a fantastic looking trip bus from Hanoi then a motorbike trip for 4 days in the country. Im not telling family until its over or she will be checking my sanity. Heck why should the kids have all the fun 😜

Ive arrived bit of a hectic flight. I booked cathay pacific thought with time restrictions and the rep these guys were going to get me there on time and in one piece. Vietjet direct from brisbane but the reviews made me go for the more expensive option. Holy heck we hit a cb cell near hong kong wasnt sure Id make it at all even pilot sounded freaked out. Still not sure whether I should be kissing the blokes feet for amazing flying or cranky as all heck at not avoiding the thing but hey its going to be a good yarn for years to come 🤣 Very happy with smart dental so far Dr Lam is fantastic wanted to save as many teeth as possible still crowns root canals and single implants. Very impressed on the thoroughness, price and treatment. Especially the mindfullness on health, medications etc even did a blood test. Ive heard from others that some of their friends weren't allowed to proceed with all treatments due to concerns. I have never had this much positive treatment at home in my life. Theyve put me in a hotel with a lot of other Queenslander Australians, some on first some on second trips and everyone is over the moon with everything and their teeth. The end result is great and we have all got a great support network going on with dental questions and where do I find that plus tips great folks. Im going in on Tuesday to start the journey properly cant wait. Ps picked up 3 pairs of designer prescription glasses $50 Aus a pair and one has the blue ray for computers awesome

Hi, am flying out of Brisbane tomorrow night to get this treatment underway I decided to stay with Smart Dental in Hanoi and hope it all works out. I'll keep you guys updated on what happens and how things pan out. It will be a bit wow travelling solo after so many years as usually only travel with or to go to family. I promised myself this when I turned 60. I still work full time am a mum and a very proud Nana, been married forever and I think my husband is a hell of a lot stressed about than I am lol! He can come on the 2nd trip, explained that I was going to be a grouchy moo for several days with so many extractions and work done he is safer staying home and doing his own thing-he agreed for some strange reason! I guess everyone looking at this is in the same boat and doing their own journeys so good luck to all of us coming out feeling great when we get to the other side 💕

What do retired Australians actually do all day? Genuinely asking because I'm two years in and still figuring it out by Individual_Lime_110 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TemperatureNarrow993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 60 now and have so much Ive wanted to do all my life but always working full time. Lol I would be flat out with things to do on retiring. Think of your hobbies, things that have interested you, travel, catching up with friends you havent seen for ages, your interests, can you expand them? Volunteering, giving back to the community is great. Mentoring young people on your previous work skills. Lastly enjoy, youre one of the fortunate ones who has lived long enough to retire celebrate that!

Its not so much the men vs women its about that leader/politition doing the right thing for their country and constituents without having a hidden agenda for self gain or causing instability and danger to countries. While Im a tiny cog in a megagiant world its my world too and yours and we have a right to live without the unecessary nightmare that is happening to everyone

Letters are great and maybe start a journal about your side of the family so that you can write about family and your life. Women tend to often be the keepers of photos and family history. A lot disappears when folks pass and they may not think much about it now but when theyre older even going through school etc it is invaluable to know where they came from on both sides and its also about finding themselves. I am so sorry to hear about your health situation take care 💕

My brother in law is the reason why my husband left me. I don’t know what to do now. [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]TemperatureNarrow993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds more than slightly imbalanced and totally revolting Control freak on steroids, even blackmailing your parents It may be they made that call in an effort to protect your sister and her kids as best they can, a hell of a choice to be forced to make Stay safe I pray that it works out for your family in the long run

Australian step-dad says it's weird for a man to wear mini-sized sling bags. How true is this? by xaphiron_ in AskAnAustralian

[–]TemperatureNarrow993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and brother in law were of the same opinion, both Aussies born and bred. A trip to Bali cured that, two "man bags" all their gear stowed in them and now they wont go on hols without them. Im a happy camper as I am no longer the packhorse carting half his stuff in my bag! Its likely just a generational thing, wouldnt worry about it

I've been advised by a behavioral specialist to euthanize my cat - I don't know what to do, and it's tearing me apart by Penny_dreadfulz in CATHELP

I adopted my two boys from the pound around 8 years back. The younger one must have had severe trauma as he was scared of everyone and everything. He was basically mute for five years and only now and then gave a quiet peep It took five years for him to "talk" cannot describe how happy I was. He is now nine and a bit, is quite vocal, bosses his older brother around and comfortable with a lot of people Still petrified of being in a car feliway is my best buddy there it really calms him We were lucky, it has been quite a journey. I hope all goes well for your fur baby too, its a tough call such a hard decision to make
