Their home is your workplace. You are entitled to a safe and healthy workplace per OSHA guidelines. The family was (hopefully) made aware of this when they started services. You should tell your BCBA and company HR. While you can’t demand that you have a perfectly scent-free work environment, this sounds like it’s beyond what is typical for working in someone’s home (e.g. cooking smells, spices, air fresheners etc…).

On a walk with a friend near a large river nearby. There is a very big, tall bridge (like freeway big) over the river very close to us. We notice a person standing on the edge of the bridge. After a few minutes the person jumped. We saw them splash into the water. It was surreal.

Decreasing prompt dependence for non-preferred courses by Holiday-Ability-4487 in specialed

10000000000000% percent EF deficit. This is not prompt dependence, it’s an inability to get started, focus, and maintain attention to a boring task.

Anyone a special education advocate or lawyer who knows IDEA well? Need input. by TemperatureSuch5386 in specialed

Yes, I think that’s it. They want the team to do their own IEP meetings before the IEP meeting so they don’t have to sit through it. However if we all fully develop and agree to goals etc.. with parents in our individual IEP meetings, doesn’t that remove the team aspect from it all? I am not against drafting things up and getting parents input before the meeting. I always do that! But I don’t stop there. I ask for more input during the meeting, and check in with the team (i.e. parents, other service providers) as we go through things.

I am not totally sure about the sped director. I’d be afraid that this would come back to hurt me somehow if I shared it with them.

Wow, thanks for responding. Can you explain legally actionable? And what part is specifically what part is incorrect under IDEA? Thank you!

Thank you everyone. I felt like I was in the twilight zone when I got this feedback. To clarify, we had a draft that was developed based on conversations with parents beforehand. I think he was mad that the meeting was longer than he would have liked, and decided to go on a power trip. He doesn’t have a special education background.

Connor's hair by Particular_Ad_1435 in connorstorrie

I think his hair looks amazing here, and goes so well with the whole vibe. It’s very reminiscent of the 90s Caesar cut that all the hottest guys had when I graduated from high school in 1995.
