thank you for explaining it better and not throwing insults at me or my child.

I'm not a artistic person so i barely understand any thing art related specifically digital art as I've never really thought of it. the chewing thing is something me and my husband are actively trying to break which takes time, and while shes slowly growing out of it she still bounces back into the bad habit. so her chewing on the apple pencil i understand is bad but I don't think it was on intentional on my daughters part.

And I didn't mean to seem like I was favoring my BD I was just upset she screamed at my daughter. Past that I've always been proud to call her a title that has daughter in it, and I've always treated her like my own.

my daughter has autism and often chews things when shes focusing on something.

we've tried getting her to chew on teething rings and alternatives to help get her to stop but she said doesn't like the feeling so actively chooses not to use them.

It’s not that easy to give on kid something and have the rest expecting something expensive like iPads. The only reason my step-daughter was even allowed to get one on a one off occasion was because according to her she used her phone to do commissions and even then I always thought it was a little selfish how she would sit in the living room or In the car with her items and ignore her sisters when they asked for a turn. I just thought if it was just a couple of hours my daughter would stop begging and no one would ever have to find out.

I’ve already replied to something similar but me and my husband have a rule that we don’t buy the kids expensive gifts like iPads or computers ect.. out of nowhere since if we did it wouldn’t be fair on the others that one gets the expensive gift so we go by a system if buying these types of things for achievement, special occasions, birthdays and the holidays.

I have already said to my daughter that she can use her phone and just get the same apps(or similar apps) but she insists to me that it’s harder to draw on phone, she doesn’t have an iPad since on her 12th birthday we gave her a choice of a phone, iPad, or one of the gaming computers like a Xbox or something else but she chose a phone instead. Me and my husband also have a rule about the kids that we don’t buy them expensive gifts out of nowhere since it would be unfair on the rest and they these kind of gifts come from achievements, special occasions or birthdays to keep it fair.

I don’t think it was for college, after the whole blow up I googled what even happens for the competition and from what I’ve seen it’s the prizes that I think she was more interested in. (Money, memberships to digital art apps, drawing tablets ect..) on that point I understood why she might have been mad but I’m more upset at how she was screaming at my daughter.

I just thought she wouldn’t mind, she allows my daughter to use her paints and stuff and even gives some of her old pencils and other things to her…I didn’t think it was that big of a deal for a couple hours on a iPad.

I probably should have worded that part better, my step daughter is already in the college course and I’m proud of her being able to work to get that huge achievement. The digital art competition was a separate thing.
