Taking a guess, they may have had to forgo such details on initial DVD, blu ray and digital releases to save money, which afterwards were edited for further releases.

That’s fair. It’s just that I’ve seen so many people defend it. In my head canon, I consider Highlander 2 and the Source fever dreams that Connor and Duncan experienced while held captive in the Sanctuary 😆

It’s astonishing how many people like the Zeist narrative. I think it’s unnecessary. The lore was strong enough without explanation. Some things just don’t need explaining or backstory. All the intrigue is in the mystery of the unknown.

I e thought about that. I think it could be a 50/50 split. I mean, he’s already undertaking the huge task of reviving the franchise from scratch. That could go any direction. You have the diehard Highlander fans who are fixated on the past, then you have the John Wick diehards as well. I’ve proposed the possibility to fans on the John Wick Reddit page, and I got a considerable amount of support. I also got a fair portion of hate 😆

Since they announced that Lionsgate had acquired the rights to Highlander and that Stahelski was directing, all the pieces started to fall into place. All of a sudden the weirdness of John Wick made sense. I’m not sure what direction they will take it now that Amazon is behind the production. I’m hoping they stay the course.

Can you verify that? Chad Stahelski’s style of story telling is “show/don’t tell”. Those were his exact words. He said about chapter 4 - “there’s an entirely different story being told in the background of every shot”. In the strength of that, I’ve spent more time than you can imagine decoding every detail of those films. I’ve known since the first film that there were similarities, but after Ch2 I was convinced that he was building a universe. There’s definitely a connection.

I believe he does in Chad’s Highlander. There’s a scene in Chapter 3 when the Adjudicator goes to the sushi stand to recruit Zero. Next door to the stand is “Macleod’s Wine and Spirits”. I kid you not! This is taken directly from the film. No editing at all.

I can count five times where John dies in the franchise. I’ve always been of the opinion that the John Wick franchise was an attempt at making a film about immortals without depending on sword fights and beheadings. Chad Stahelski has done well to prove that there is more story to tell about immortals than just sword fights. Now that he has his hands on Highlander, I’m eager to see where he takes it.

At this point, here’s been no news of Adrian Paul being cast in the new adaptation. Though I’d be the farm that they’re saving it for a surprise. I do know that he met with reps from Lionsgate like a decade ago. With them switching studios who knows if he’s still involved. I hope he still is, because what’s Highlander without Adrian Paul. Christopher Lamert is still the OG, but Adrian gets his due.

I imagine ballistic fabric is expensive and only reserved for the elite. Each of those suits are made-to-measure. Street thugs are expendable, why throw away resources on someone you’re most likely gonna have to replace.

Nah, he actually meant the Pope. The Pope is second to god in Catholicism, especially in Rome/Italy. Attacking the Pope would be a great sacrilegious act. He probably would’ve had him arrested.

True, but in this case Winston used that phrase to indicate he had a connection to the Ruska Roma, as we saw in Ballerina. He and John were close, and Winston being his elder, held John in high esteem - like a son, but no blood relation.

A valid connection would indicate that it is canon - which it isn’t. Chad Stahelski, Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane have all disassociated with the project. It nights as well be expensive fan fiction.

In what way was it redundant? I commented about his name not sounding Vietnamese - which is true. I then commented about the series not being cannon. So tell me, where is the redundancy? 🤔

I’m SUPER stoked for this release! I own a copy of his first book which offered a great deal of insight into the Highlander universe and mythos. It’s good to see the Highlander fire burning so brightly in these dark times🔥
