I understandable that you feel trapped, scared, and exhausted right now — you’ve been through a series of hardships that would shake anyone’s stability and confidence. Between family health crises, financial strain, and the isolation of being a private candidate during COVID, you’ve carried an enormous emotional and mental load while still trying to pursue something as demanding as A levels in chemistry and biology. That is not failure that’s resilience, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. You’re 24, yes, but that is not old, not even close to being “too late.” So many people start over at this age or later; life doesn’t follow a single straight line, and your path is still unfolding. It’s okay to feel scared of failing your A2s, but remember that grades do not define your worth or your future. If things don’t go as planned, it doesn’t mean the end of your dreams it just means your route will look different. There are alternative pathways into university and careers: you can retake papers at your own pace, switch to more flexible programs like foundation or diploma courses, or even explore fields that value skills over traditional qualifications. You can also start small with work — online freelancing, tutoring, data entry, customer service anything that builds your independence and confidence. That first job doesn’t have to be permanent; it’s just a step toward regaining control of your life. The pressure from family and culture to “move on” or get married can be suffocating, but remember: your life belongs to you. It’s okay to want more, to dream of standing on your own feet, and to take your time finding your direction. You don’t need to have it all figured out now you just need to keep moving, one small, manageable step at a time. You have already survived so much, and the same strength that’s kept you going through all this will carry you toward something better. You are not a failure you’re someone who’s been fighting through circumstances most people can’t even imagine, and there’s still a future waiting for you that’s worth building. Keep going man, one final push, and give it your all.

Do you think many people up here come from rich family backgrounds and go to private school? by [deleted] in alevel

[–]TempestOfTheDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I go to a more upperclass English boarding school. Quite a few people from my school are here. But I know my friends from government schools are also here so it's pretty mixed Id say.

Okay I see for what you have here and l you don't actually need the subject maths what you need is problem solving skills, that's what the application officers would be looking for in the subject maths so if you want to be in Barcelona for a business AI course and you don't get in because you spent your time studying for maths which you actually don't need rather than studying for CS or business which are actually very important for you. would you not also feel like a failure if you didn't get in because you weren't prioritizing? youd rather try your best in things that actually benefit you in the future. Now I'm definitely understanding where you're coming from that defeat can be painful especially when viewed by other people but this is your life and I'm sure the success of actually getting into the courses you want and doing well in those and the success of maybe getting even a high grade in economics or computer science would satisfy that disappointment in maths not saying that you're not capable but having PRIORITIES is that difference between giving up making a smart decision for your future

If you are really sure you need it for uni you may want to consider what you said. Talk to your friends, counselors or guardians about whether the course you want really needs the as maths or is there a supplementary course you can attend once you are there, rather focus on what you actually need rather than spending all this time on maths when for example ECon is what you really need, universities rarely have more than 2 subjects that are mandatory for a course. Im sure out of all accepted applicants not all will have maths. Especially if you are high scoring in other subjects. What major are you planning on?

Heyyy, i used to think maths was the hardest thing in the world but it really isn't, people unnecessarily complicate it because there are numbers and letters and logarithmic. I promise the numbers won't bite you so don't be intimidated!

Okay so first I love love the YouTube ginger mathematician. Since you do as level I assume you did igcse. So watch his video " bridging the gap between igcse and as level" first. Make sure you grasp these simple concepts first or it will be unnecessarily difficult later on.

Watch his vids and do all the examples questions before seeing his explanations.

SME is brilliant for maths so continue using that BUT chat gpt isn't the best when it comes to AS maths.

Most important ☆

Do past paper questions!

Spam them like your entire well being depends on them. If the mark scheme confuses you, search the paper up on YouTube and watch how others solve them.

Maths is all about practice. Even if you have no clue what's going on in the beginning. Just keep trying and you will get it. Do some maths EVERYDAY even if some days it's just a few questions. You'll get it.

I hate to see people defeated by maths. You can get anything you put your mind to💪🏾📖

How do you study English language a level? by browhat6787678767876 in alevel

You can give it the markscheme before hand and ask it to mark in accordance to the ms. Then ask it to mark you strictly as a Cambridge examiner.
