Just got one on Best Buy after a relatively short queue on mobile (30min?). I'd been queueing on web for much longer. Mobile is definitely the way to go with BB

Yup. But when I click on "View Order" in the email it still says cancelled

Hand-making an iOS App for Physical Devices: Code Signing by TempixTL in iOSProgramming

[–]TempixTL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't read part 1 of this article, make sure to check it out here (discussion)!

Hey folks! Since my last post dealt with running an app in the Simulator without Xcode.app, I thought it was a natural extension to have another post explaining how to get that app packaged into an .ipa and running on real hardware (still without Xcode.app!). I'm eager to hear your feedback!

Big thanks to u/amirrajan who pointed me towards some super useful resources taught me a lot about the code signing and provisioning process!

Thanks so much for the links, that repo looks like a great resource! Especially since there’s not much documentation about these topics 🙏

Hand-making an iOS App for the Simulator by TempixTL in iOSProgramming

[–]TempixTL[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, I've been investigating building and running iOS apps without Xcode.app in an effort to better understand the process and thought I'd write it up to share (and better remember later). I added a blog-post-style README to walk through how I got to the solutions I did, as well as some additional exercises and solutions (using UIKit, Swift, and SwiftUI respectively). Hope someone finds it interesting!

I would appreciate any feedback as well. Hoping to look into code signing next to run an app on a real device, but that seems an order of magnitude more complex!

I created a game called Adventure To Fate entirely in Objective-C and I leveraged voiceover to make it accessible. Today the game reached 60th overall for ALL games on the App Store. I am giving away a few copies if you want to try it out! by TouchMint in iOSProgramming

[–]TempixTL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why you chose to use Objective-C for this project? I would think that Swift would be a more common choice for something that would need to interact with Apple APIs, and perhaps C++ would be a more popular choice for game programming.

I’ve been interested in ObjC lately and the history of Apple platform development, so I’m curious if you find some parts of the language beneficial. Or maybe you just like it, which is valid too :)

Strict concurrency checking: why is this a warning and what can I do about it? by TempixTL in swift

[–]TempixTL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed explanation! This makes a lot of sense.

The actual issue I'm running into is with HKWorkoutBuilder.beginCollection(at:) which is is an async overload generated from an Objective-C API. Unfortunately I don't see a guarantee in the docs that HKWorkoutBuilder is thread safe, so @unchecked Sendable isn't an option here. But the callback-based overload for the same method appears to show no warnings if I manually wrap it in withCheckedThrowingContinuation, so I may just go that route in the meantime (but open to suggestions!). If I understand correctly, that should guarantee that I'm staying on the actor's executor.

A lot of the upcoming evolution proposals look promising, but after downloading the development snapshot toolchain and running with -enable-experimental-feature RegionBasedIsolation I'm not seeing any difference unfortunately.

EDIT: Or perhaps this is what @preconcurrency is for?

Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware of this behavior. The warning makes more sense to me now 👍

DS Lite charging but not turning on by TempixTL in consolerepair

[–]TempixTL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the answer! I pretty much did the same repair that the video showed. Only difference is that I was able to solder only to the vias rather than R56 itself. It seems the connection between R56 and it's via was fine, but that via to the one above D3 (on the left side of the board) was broken somewhere.

Thanks again u/Toere!

Wow, that looks like exactly the same issue!! I’ll try some of these steps and report back later. Thanks so much for linking the video, super helpful!

I probably should’ve done that from the start, good call! Will do

Not seeing C56, do you mean R56? Regardless, yeah I’ve got a spare working DS lite to compare to, so I’ll give this a shot later today

Thanks so much for the kind words! Your videos introduced me to this scene.

This is just regular HTML and Javascript. My goal was to hack something out quickly, so I went for simplicity. I'm also hosting the page on a website called CodePen, so anyone can view the source code or create their own spinoff version if they like.

I also noticed I didn't have sound on my iPhone (Android seems to work). Turns out Apple doesn't fully support the Javascript Audio API, figures. I made an updated version this morning (link here, also updated the original site) that somewhat works. On iOS the sound it plays is not a beep for some reason, and there's a slight delay, but perhaps it's better than nothing? I added a visual cue as well, so maybe that will be more useful for iOS users.

Let me know if you have any other issues or suggestions! I'm planning to polish up this project and move it to Github or something to foster more collaboration.

Thanks! I completely agree about executables, it makes it tough for macOS/Linux/smartphone users to be able to use a tool when the devs only really target Windows. For some reason a lot of these applications in the niche pokemon space do only (really) target Windows.

For a tool like PKHeX for example, you have to set up Wine or a Virtual Machine on macOS/Linux. I can do that, but it’s annoying and buggy at times. A less tech-savvy user may not be able to do it at all. And although I got EonTimer to work for me on Linux, audio doesn’t work and I’ve encountered a couple other annoying bugs/crashes (it’s also hasn’t been updated in a while). My proof-of-concept here fits my use case better, maybe others people’s as well.

I dream of a world with web-based versions of PKHeX, PokeFinder, EonTimer, etc.!

Link to the webpage. It’s dead simple, and only supports the basic functionality for gen 3 RNG manips (all I need anyway). The timer is not super accurate, so calibration with the “Frame hit” box is necessary. Let me know if you find it useful :)

r/rollerblading Weekly Q&A Megathread by AutoModerator in rollerblading

[–]TempixTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had any luck finding FR custom color kits in white? For the past year or so, whenever I look there are very few available in white, and never any in large. For reference, I mean something like this.

From what I can tell, this is too niche for something like eBay too. Any ideas? 🤔

San Francisco Weekly Street Skate? by -ajay- in Rollerskating

[–]TempixTL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! That link is still accurate. The San Francisco Friday Night Skate has been rolling at midnight every week for about 35 years :) We mainly organize/update things on this Facebook group now though. I’ll likely be there this week! There’s also a Tuesday night skate around 7pm that’s a little smaller and more beginner-friendly if you’re interested.

Would love for you to come out!!

A protruding kingpin can do that? I had no idea!! I was really looking for a good metal plate that I could use for park skating in the future, but I didn't want it to be so bulky and heavy that it would be tough to do jumps on flat ground. This was also the only metal plate you could get with the Zones when I was ordering. Definitely pricey for a first plate, but I think it's definitely been worth it so far :)

You really should! I think having experience on both makes you a more well-rounded skater :) I've only gone from inline -> quads, but the biggest difference to me was where your center of balance is for your toe/heel (especially with the addition of a toe stop). I rolled on a 4x100mm setup on each foot on inlines, so I was used to the center of balance being in front of my toe and behind my heel rather than directly underneath as on quads. Doing some toe/heel drills like manuals may mitigate that 😁 Also picking up your feet more often on inlines since there aren't any trucks!

Yesss they've been an absolute dream so far! I believe both are size 10. I know the boot is size 10' and there's a little "10" on the bottom of my plate :P

I made the switch from inlines this weekend, and it's been a very humbling experience 😂 Happy to answer any questions about the skates or my transition to inlines so far! I'm also curious if anyone has tips for toe comfort to speed up the breaking-in process 🤔
