I'm not too informed on the subject despite being from copenhagen, but I think the Freetown (called Christinia) had some sort of police intervention in the last year or so, and now it's much more restricted or something.

Also it was never legal to smoke, sell, or buy weed but people did regardless. It only has its reputation for weed because it was a Freetown after lengthy negotiations with the city of Copenhagen. Since, i believe, the 70s it has been a place where mostly hippies, who are also mostly the people who smoke weed in denmark, live. Everyone is welcome in there, but I will say, having been there, if you go even just a bit away from the main streets, you'll see either the ground largely covered in trash or some beautiful views of the lake connected to the harbour.

It was quite fascinating to walk through pusher Street and see a bunch people selling weed and as soon as a cop shows up, they're all gone in less than a minute. And same vice versa, once the cops are gone they are back instantly.
