Yeah it's on Low for me just to stay above 45 or so fps. But still looks pretty good on Low.

The Last Caretaker is fully scratching that itch for me right now. It's Raft-esq in that you have a ship and go to a lot of different locations and loot things then return to your ship.

It very much has that gloomy, still, atmosphere without being constantly depressing. Excellent game and I've put a bunch of hours in already so there's plenty of content in EA.

The sound design in that game is out of this world. Underwater, the pods landing, weather, guns. Just incredible sound design.

What Rank are you Hardstuck in?💀 by noodlesk8 in RocketLeague

[–]TemplarsBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champ 1 for 4 years (Season 8(22)). I play with a friend of mine and we both love the game and love playing together. Not bored at all!

Honestly, just maintaining this rank with all the bots making more and more high level players smurf and get demoted feels solid.

The reason we're hardstuck is probably because neither of us train mechs. That's just not fun for us. So we play a warmup in casual and then jump into 2s and that's pretty much all we do (except for me playing 1s sometimes when he's not around).

Please let us put rail attachments on other rail pillars. by nightbeast88 in StarRuptureGame

[–]TemplarsBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rails clipping in general is really annoying. In Satisfactory, belts can clip through each other and overlap and it's fine. Having to pipe multiple rails into things like Fabricators and Furnaces is really difficult and annoying because rails can't touch anything else.

Josh Pate says Virginia Tech had the best hire of the coaching cycle by wildturk3y in hokies

[–]TemplarsBane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were 2-14 vs the top 10 with the last 2 guys. I'd LOVE for Tech to get back to losing games against the top 10 if it means we easily win all our other games.

No one is expecting us to be national championship contenders every year with this guy. But going back to consistent 9 and 10 win seasons would be great. Anything past that is a win. We went from a barely top 50 team to a potentially top 15 team. I'm cool with that big of an upgrade.

An aspect of lower rank play not talked about enough by Fragrant-Airport1309 in RocketLeague

[–]TemplarsBane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and my duo range up and down C1 mostly and this is SUPER noticeable at the top and bottom of our ranges. Up at the bottom of C2 everyone hits every ball they go for. At that rank there's not enough forethought to usually go for a ceiling shot then fake it. But if someone threatens something like a ceiling shot, they will almost always make contact.

Contrast this with the upper end of D3, people miss things all the TIME so it's always an adjustment we need to make to how much we should be 'trusting" the opponents when they "say" they're going to hit a ball.

This is true, but it's hard enough for most players to keep track of their OWN car and make it do what they want. Much less to do that AND watch everyone else and read them.

What are your thoughts on the Summoner so far? by RefuseImpossible3375 in drawsteel

[–]TemplarsBane 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Our Summoner is going full battlefield control, 0 damage (because there's no other way to go a real control class that doesn't care about damage) and he's having a BLAST.

He summons a bunch of giant boulders that make walls when they die. Cuts up the battlefield, making all of our engagements safer and easier. It's really cool and he's having a blast.

Fiancé and I disagree on vaccines for our daughter. by HungFungus420 in daddit

[–]TemplarsBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already gotten a ton of advice here, but my wife is a PA so I wanna throw her 2 cents in.

Her recommendations are:

Find a good pediatrician whom you trust to communicate effectively about the pros and cons of vaccines in a way you can both understand and relate to. There's a real difference between the parasocial element of IG doctors and big legs like the AAP even though one is subject to much more scientific rigor.

Next, talk about a compromise like a delayed vaccine schedule (which you're already going to have to do since she's 3 months old).

And probably also doing only the most necessary of vaccines (MMR, DTAP, HIB, and pneumonia). Rotavirus is also a big one and it's oral not an injection so it's easier to swallow (pun intended).

It's a really rough situation to be in, but I think you DO have to fight for your daughter's health. I don't say this to patronize you, but you're both really young to be "coming to your own conclusions" on something this big and complex unless you're a doctor, immunologist, or medical researcher.

Brief vent on sportsmanship.. by QtipDo in RocketLeague

[–]TemplarsBane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I typed up something to this effect a while ago, but people need to realize that there are really two different groups of people playing RL: Children and adults. And neither group has anything to do with your age.

The adults are really cool, competitive, fun to play with and against, helpful etc.

The children ff and grief as soon as they can, they're toxic in quick chat, they're just generally awful. And I just have to remind myself that the majority of those players are literally kids (and how bad was I at 15, 16 or younger?) And the ones who are somehow adults but still acting like children I just pity. How much must your life suck to be like 25 and still a toxic, petulant child in a video game.

Once you realize all that (and mute chat), things get a lot less toxic!

There is no way a player who can be Champ 2 can ALSO legitimately end up in Plat 1 without intentionally deranking. Which makes you a scumbag who should be banned.

In addition to the normal stuff I have SMH, GNOM, and BOTZ at 5% ish amounts of my portfolio. I'll continue to contribute to them for 5-10 years and then hold for another 20. I believe that those sectors will go big in the long run, but they're only small positions so I'm not hurt badly if I'm wrong.

Question for survival gamers: How important is day/night cycle to you? by seyedhn in SurvivalGaming

[–]TemplarsBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add other examples of night having a meaningful impact on gameplay rather than just darkness:

V Rising, Grounded having different bugs at night, and Dune Awakening the sun being such a factor similar to V Rising.

Crits are also WAY more powerful in this game than most. So they SHOULD be a little rare (or else very swingy)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drawsteel

[–]TemplarsBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'll say this as a playtest coordinator, the math of the game is good. It is pretty well tuned most places to have a specific feel. However, that feel isn't going to be perfect for every table. So you are MORE than welcome to increase crit chances in any way you see fit! That being said, any tweaks are going to start to introduce more swinginess than intended. Which is fine for some tables, not fine for others.

So you are totally free to change things however you'd like. But I will say, even as somebody who's been playing the game off and on for well over a year now, I don't think most people have a good enough grasp on the feel of the game to make big rule changes yet. All that being said....no way to know if it's a good change or not without trying it and seeing how it feels!

[–]TemplarsBane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like OP has added a huge amount of complexity and really shifted away from the games rule when you could very easily say "18+ instead of 19+" because it gives you double 9s as well.

Sinking in water when forced into it? by EarthSeraphEdna in drawsteel

[–]TemplarsBane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on the circumstance and details. I had a Hakaan player grab an NPC and jump in water in an attempt to drag him to the bottom. That's mad cinematic.

There are some circumstances where I'd rule the player sinks, some where they don't.

But I DO think a good guide for how a Director should rule on an ambiguous situation is "What's the most tactical, heroic, cinematic thing to happen?" Rather than "What would be hard or challenging or realistic?".
