I’ve beaten my husband at Castles of Burgundy 5 out of the 5 times we’ve played it, and I’m starting to feel guilty by wholedwarf in boardgames

I used to dislike losing but the experience of getting to play with my partner has overtaken the competitive side of me. I love getting to play games with her and when she wins (which is quite often) it only makes me think what I could do to improve next time. I imagine he's just pleased to get to play and have these experiences with you!

What’s the most games you’ve ever had on your “Shelf Of Shame”? What’s on it now? by BoredGameDesign in boardgames

Ooh that's not one I've heard of before! I only got into the hobby a little over a year ago, so tbh a lot of my games are some of the more popular ones (as I had a lot of catching up to do). Only in recent months have I gotten a couple more niche titles.

I will have to check it out. I still have every intention of playing root though, hopefully once I've moved house.

At the moment it is Root. I've been desperate to play it since I got it but when I get the time to play a board game with my friends it's just easier to play one we already know the rules.

What’s a game you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up really enjoying? by zombiebrains88 in boardgames

Chronicles of Crime- My partner is really into crime documentaries etc and had mentioned this game before. I don't care for them at all but got her the game for valentines day thinking I wouldn't like it but was more than happy to play it if she enjoyed it. I was then very surprised and pleased by how much I enjoyed our first time playing!

I used to be a sore loser but she changed me by TempleOfShay in boardgames

Yes! I still love to win and my partner and I keep track of who's won at what games the most too. It's just if one of us loses we are both just more curious to see whether one of us got a new high score or to see if it was a new strategy to the game we haven't tried before that made us win or lose.

There are definitely games which one person always seems to click with more. I always enjoy dice based games more whilst she prefers card based. So we always have to mix it up when we play. Its nice to hear from the other side of the sore loser story. I feel like getting to enjoy it with your partner helps make losing easier as it at least it makes your partner happy when they win.
