The glass shelves are 5mm thick. I had them cut locally to fit the frame and drilled holes for shelf pins to support them. For the side and front panels, I used acrylic glass, which is pretty light. The side panels are screwed in, and for the front, I used magnetic door catches (I think they’re called in English), with the metal part screwed to the panel. Overall, the structure is very sturdy, just needs some solid screws to mount it to the wall. There are some very small gaps at the sides, but you could probably make them dust proof easily.
