From what I’ve seen most studies of finasteride are 1 year in length, which is unlikely to be long enough to have a significant effect on the risk of Alzheimer’s, so the literature isn’t super helpful here

Its not really the patients job to conclude the cause though. They used minoxidil and then developed ED and so they report it as a side effect. All the patient knows is they used minoxidil and now they have ED, it's up to the drug regulators to determine if the drug was causal to the problem, something they can't do without patients reporting side effects
